You may have caught this news hours ago on our Facebook page, but we decided to add it to our front page. After months of speculation, Lucasfilm confirmed today that Donald Glover (Atlanta, Community, The Martian) has been cast as a young Lando Calrissian in the upcoming Han Solo movie. If Lando had to be recast, Glover seems like a good choice. Head over to StarWars.com for the full story and let us know what you think in our comments!

I find it hard to believe at times, but I've been writing reviews for Jedi Temple Archives since March of 2014. I began by reviewing season six of Star Wars: The Clone Wars when it was released on Netflix. Since then, we've opened up a companion Research Droids Reviews database that has been home to reviews of Star Wars Rebels, The Force Awakens, the new canon novels, and home video releases. This database is expanding yet again. Beginning this weekend, I will be providing weekly reviews of the first five seasons of Star Wars: The Clone Wars. These past episodes will be reviewed in the chronological order outlined by StarWars.com. I hope these reviews will be a fun way for everyone to revisit this great series! Join us and follow along each week to follow the story in chronological order!

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Michael Giacchino (Lost, Up, Star Trek) has replaced Alexander Desplat as the composer for Rogue One. The reason for Desplat's departure? That would be those inescapable reshoots. The extensive reshoots Rogue One went through created a scheduling conflict for Desplat and he was forced to drop out. Enter Michael Giacchino. Giacchino has frequently worked for Disney in the past scoring five Pixar movies, Zootopia, and the upcoming Doctor Strange movie among others. It's still strange and nerve-racking to think that someone besides John Williams will be scoring a Star Wars movie, but Giacchino seems like a natural fit.

Turner has struck a massive deal with Disney for the basic cable rights to 10 Star Wars films. The deal includes four unreleased Star Wars films (most likely Rogue One, Episodes 8 and 9, and the Han Solo movie). They have also reached a separate agreement with 20th Century Fox for the original Star Wars. The Star Wars films have been out of circulation on basic cable since a licensing agreement with Spike TV expired in 2014. The original and prequel trilogies will begin airing on TNT as early as September 20th. Head over to Variety for the full story!

Michael Leader, the man who played the Stormtrooper that famously hit his head on the blast shield doorway has died. Metro.co.uk has the full story. Special thanks to JTA reader Marc G. for the alert!
UPDATE 1: It looks like Metro.co.uk has an inaccurate story. Although Michael Leader did pass away, apparently he was not responsible for this famous Star Wars blooper. Wookieepedia goes on to explain that the actor who hit his head was actually Laurie Goode (who is alive and well).
UPDATE 2: This story may be accurate. Wookieepedia documents that BOTH Michael Leader and Laurie Goode recall bumping their heads as stormtroopers. We'll let you decide.

After the news broke that Disney was searching for an actor to play a young Lando in the upcoming Han Solo movie, speculation about who could possibly replace Billy Dee Williams began. Now a new report suggests that there is already a frontrunner. Birth. Movies. Death. is reporting that Donald Glover (Community, The Martian) is the first choice to play young Lando. You could do a lot worse than Donald Glover. I like Glover and he has proven himself as both a comedic and dramatic actor. But is he a good choice for Lando? I don't know. As with Han Solo and Harrison Ford, it's difficult to accept someone besides Billy Dee Williams as Lando. Although I won't write the movie off yet, especially with Phil Lord and Chris Miller directing, I still don't like the idea of a young Han Solo movie. Han Solo has one of the most complete character arcs in the entire saga, so at least on paper this film seems unnecessary to me. In addition to my discomfort with recasting Han and now Lando. At least bring Billy Dee back for Episode 8! What do you think about the potential casting of Glover as Lando? Let us know in the comments!

Lando is now rumored to join Solo in the Han Solo movie. This is not really unexpected, and casting the right Lando is almost as important as casting the right Han Solo. Lando has a strong connection to Han's past, so adding him in the movie is a good move! Let's hope it's true, and done right! Cinema Blend has the full report! People are hating on this movie before it's made. I'm personally looking forward to it. Sound off in the comments!

When the news broke that Rogue One would be undergoing several weeks of reshoots, some people jumped to the conclusion that Rogue One was a troubled production and that the sky was falling. I never bought into that theory and the reaction seemed entirely overblown to me. Virtually every movie of this size will experience reshoots. It happened with The Force Awakens and I'm sure it will happen with Episode 8. The Hollywood Reporter has finally provided some clarity on the secretive Rogue One reshoots though ... Stating the obvious, ABC president Channing Dungey expressed her desire to introduce a Star Wars TV show on ABC. She went on to say that talks with Lucasfilm are ongoing. Variety has the full report. So what's the first Star Wars TV show we should expect? Cheers set in the cantina? Let the Star Wars TV show puns begin! I'll start with The X-Wing Files. (Alternate puns included: Who's the Bossk?, I Love Lando, Mr. Lobot, and Band of Bothans). As for the prospect of an Star Wars TV show on ABC, it has me a little nervous. I think Netflix would probably be a better fit for Star Wars. What do you think? Let us know in our comments!

Well, the drama is back! (Supposedly.) CosmicBookNews.com is reporting from source Latino Review that there is indeed major drama surrounding Rogue One, that the problems aren't overblown. In fact, they accuse Entertainment Weekly of shilling for Disney. Per the source, they're claiming that things are so bad that a new director is being brought on board and half the film needs to be reshot because it is much too dark for Disney's tastes. (What a shame if this is indeed true.) We're just presenting this for you to come to your own conclusions. But if it is true, it certainly provides some clarity on how Disney is much too involved in the creative process.
Sometimes it takes a "crazy" rumor to get the truth. Hey, whatever it takes. Still, Lucasfilm has mostly decide to not respond to the rumors. EW.com has the full story on the truth they were able to confirm surrouding the Rogue One reshoots and other changes required to help finish it up. Click through for more!.

Uh-oh. Unrest there always seems to be at Disney when it comes to Star Wars. First Arndt leaving, now Rogue One is suffering some supposed turmoil. According to the Daily Mail, Disney chiefs have deemed Rogue One "so bad" that they're requiring four weeks of reshoots and the blame is being placed on director Gareth Edwards. (Or maybe it's actually so good in a classic Star Wars sense that they need to completely rework it to make some characters more invincible perhaps?) Check out the story!

Maybe there is some precedent set for a Star Wars film getting released in December. Maybe The Force Awakens isn't alone. The Academy Film Archive has revealed a supposedly never-before-seen "Revenge Of The Jedi" teaser yesterday which shows that Episode VI was planned to have a December 1983 release date. Check it out!
