Celebration didn't feature a big Episode VIII announcement, but director Rian Johnson was on hand to talk about the process of bringing the latest chapter in the Star Wars saga to life. Although we've heard a lot of what he said before, Johnson offered up some interesting information when he listed six films that influenced the direction of Episode VIII. The six films he mentioned were Bridge on the River Kwai, Gunga Din, Sahara (1943), Letter Never Sent, Twelve O'Clock High, and Three Outlaw Samurai. It's definitely an intriguing group of classic movies and they almost exclusively take place during the middle of war. It will be interesting to see how directly these films influenced Episode VIII.

The Tokyo Toy Show is underway and Hasbro has a presence there. Japanstarwars.com is covering thr show. Don't worry, nothing new has been shown yet (if at all), but you may want to keep checking back during the event to see if anything new gets revealed there. Of particular note, Bandai has a pretty incredible presence there so you may want to check out what they're offering. Is it just us, or is it painful to see Hasbro's 3.75" Chopper figure on display as if he is available or something?

While sitting here waiting for my flight to leave LA I thought this would be a perfect time to detox and wrap up the main portion of our coverage! First off a big thanks to Paul for working the homefront and getting the galleries up and posted! While I had my boots on the ground he was pushing pictures through as fast as possible! (more...)
Also, please take a moment to visit and thank our sponsor Brian's Toys! Without their help we would not have been able to cover as much as we did. Their sponsorship of our coverage was a huge help!

We held off until the very end of SWCA to bring you this unique first look gallery of many of the card backs (the reverse sides of course) of The Black Series figures (both scales) as well as a "not behind glass" closer inspection of the newly revealed 6" Ahsoka Tano. As far as TBS packaging is concerned, you'll notice that bios (and images from the 3.75" scale) are being removed in favor of multilingual basic text and warnings (what a shame) even in the collector line. Anyway, check out the new images. We don't think you will find them anywhere else on the web, but hey, stranger things have happened. Click through for more!
