Review: Chewbacca - TBS [P2] - Six Inch Figure (#04)

Posted by Paul | October 23, 2014 at 12:15 AM EDT |

It's time for some new figures again! We've managed to remain spoiler free with The Black Series [Phase II] wave 5, and now it's time for our assessment of them. Let's start with The Black Series [Phase II] Chewbacca (#04) figure, a figure that was cancelled from the orange line look and has finally been released. We're a bit stuck with this one. It's good, but it's not what we really expected. Find out more in our Research Droids Reviews today. Let's check out The Inquisitor's TIE Advanced Prototype. Could this be the rumored Darth Vader's TIE Fighter redo... or not? Either way, this is another nice vehicle. Posted by Paul | October 13, 2014 at 09:12 AM EDT |

Review: Durge - CW [A] - Basic

Posted by Paul | October 08, 2014 at 01:10 AM EDT |

It's Tartakovsky time! The Clone Wars [Animated] line is very, very small, so it won't take long to plow through the basic figures and multipacks that made it up. But let's not rush things and start with Durge, which is just an awesome action figure despite his minimal articulation. Hasbro, this is how you do simply-articulated action figures! Review: Battle Droid (Boomer Damage) - POTJ - Basic

Posted by Paul | October 04, 2014 at 12:10 AM EDT |

One of our most favorite figures in the Power Of The Jedi line, that isn't sourced to the Original Trilogy, is the Battle Droid (Boomer Damage) figure. This all-new sculpt has lots of options, interchangeable looks and cool accessories. And the articulation was very impressive for the year 2000. Posted by Paul | October 03, 2014 at 12:50 AM EDT |

A nice surprise in the Power Of The Jedi line was the retooled Qui-Gon Jinn (Mos Espa Disguise) figure. But we really have to wonder: is this really a disguise? Posted by Paul | October 02, 2014 at 01:05 AM EDT |

Sometimes the other things that an action figure is packed with can be more exciting than the actual action figure itself. That's about how we feel with the Anakin Skywalker (Mechanic) figure from the Power Of The Jedi line. See what we mean in our Research Droids Reviews today. Review: Sandtrooper (Tatooine Patrol) - POTJ - Basic

Posted by Paul | September 29, 2014 at 12:20 AM EDT |

Is it a dirty corporal or a dirty sergeant? Because we have no idea. There was no Sandtrooper with a gray pauldron in Episode IV, but that's what Hasbro decided to give the Sandtrooper (Tatooine Patrol) figure in the Power Of The Jedi line. It's a great figure nonetheless. See this figure in its entirety in our Research Droids Reviews today. Review: Imperial Officer - POTJ - Basic

Posted by Paul | September 28, 2014 at 12:40 AM EDT |

We're finishing up the basic figures in the Power Of The Jedi line and the Imperial Officer is up next. Sadly, this is not the figure Hasbro meant to update as this is not an Imperial Officer. It's an Imperial Technician as seen in Episode V and Episode VI. Check it out in our Research Droids Reviews today. Posted by Paul | September 27, 2014 at 12:55 AM EDT |

Nothing is worse than waiting for an update to a character you desperately want to see improved upon and then that new figure just doesn't meet your expectations either. Review: Chewbacca (Millennium Falcon Mechanic) - POTJ - Basic

Posted by Paul | September 26, 2014 at 01:40 AM EDT |

The first true to scale Chewbacca action figure was the POTJ Chewbacca (Millennium Falcon Mechanic) figure. It doesn't hold up terribly well today, but it's not half that bad either. The point here is that it changed how all future Chewbacca action figures would be approached. It's the focus of our Research Droids Reviews today. Let's go back in time a decade to see what kind of goodness Hasbro gave us back then. The Original Trilogy Collection Slave I may not hold as much water as it did back in 2004, but we still can't help hold fondness for it 10 years after the fact. Review: Starkiller (Galen Marek) - TBS [P2] - #05

Posted by Paul | September 23, 2014 at 12:25 AM EDT |

Oh boy do we feel bad for those of you that missed out on The Vintage Collection Starkiller (Vader's Apprentice) (VC100) figure because The Black Series Starkiller (Galen Marek) figure REALLY pales in comparison. With eyebrows that Elaine gave Uncle Leo in Seinfeld and a hairline of Jim Carrey's character in Dumb & Dumber, there isn't much to praise here at all. The paint operations in general are nightmarish. See why you'll still want to track down the TVC figure by checking in with our Research Droids Reviews today. Review: R5-G19 - TBS [P2] - #01

Posted by Paul | September 22, 2014 at 12:20 AM EDT |

We continue our exclusive advanced look at the first wave of The Black Series [Phase II] line look which should be hitting the USA some time in October. (FYI, we will also be referring to this wave as wave 6 to keep continuity in The Black Series overall lineup.) Next up is the R5-series astromech droid R5-G19 which apparently has really confused Hasbro, not only with the character itself but also the figure's production. What's interesting is that this droid doesn't even appear in Return Of The Jedi. Well it does, but it doesn't. We'll explain. Hasbro's reference image shows another R5 unit, not R5-G19 (although they do look very similar to each other). We have a lot to discuss so learn more in our Research Droids Reviews today. Review: Luke Skywalker [Wampa Attack] - TBS [P2] - #02

Posted by Paul | September 21, 2014 at 12:01 AM EDT |

We have NEW FIGURES to review! We start our exclusive advanced look at the first wave of The Black Series [Phase II] line look which should be hitting the USA some time in October. (FYI, we will also be referring to this wave as wave 6 to keep continuity in The Black Series overall lineup.) We start off with Luke Skywalker as he appeared in The Empire Strikes Back right after his attack from the wampa. The figure has some impressive upgrades when compared to The Vintage Collection release, but is it perfect? We have a great deal to say about him.
