Review: Darth Vader (Ver. 2.0) - Real Action Heroes

Posted by Paul | January 31, 2015 at 01:15 AM EDT |

Medicom Toy wasn't completely happy with their first take on the Darth Vader Real Action Heroes figure based on the character's appearance from Return Of The Jedi. So they started again and produced the stunning Darth Vader (Ver. 2.0) Real Action Heroes figure a few years later. It comes with a light-up lightsaber and other electronics. You're going to love it. Check out this incredible work of art in our Research Droids Reviews today. Review: Ishi Tib - POTF2 [G/FF] - Basic

Posted by Paul | January 29, 2015 at 01:35 AM EDT |

In 1998 we definitely all wanted an Ishi Tib action figure, but not this particular Ishi Tib. But this is still a great Ishi Tib until we get the Ishi Tib we originally wanted. Are you confused yet? Don't worry. We explain it all in our Research Droids Reviews today. Be sure to leave your own thoughts in our comments section, vote in the poll or even leave comments about it on our Facebook page. It's sad that the second collector-friendly attempt of Princess Leia Organa (In Ewok Celebration Outfit) would just not deliver. A key outfit for her in Episode VI, collectors wanted the best out of this figure but likeness, scale issues and the inability to stand unaided were just the beginnings of her problems. Rumors abound that a new one is coming in The Black Series this year, but until it's officially announced we have to assume that this is one of three options we have for this figure today. Review: Bespin Luke Skywalker - POTF2 [G/FF] - Basic

Posted by Paul | January 27, 2015 at 01:10 AM EDT |

Would you believe it took Hasbro three (3) years to produce a modern Luke Skywalker (Bespin Fatigues) figure? They called him Bespin Luke Skywalker and released him in the Freeze Frame phase of The Power Of The Force "2" line. See this figure in our Research Droids Reviews today. Review: Pote Snitkin - POTF2 [G/FF] - Internet Exclusive

Posted by Paul | January 26, 2015 at 02:20 AM EDT |

Here is a figure from 1999 that looks almost as good today as it did when it was first released. Check out the gorgeous Pote Snitkin figure. Hopefully you already have him because Hasbro will NEVER revisit this character again in 3.75" action figure form. But they really don't need to do that. Find out why in our Research Droids Reviews today. Be sure to leave your own thoughts in our comments section, vote in the poll or even leave comments about it on our Facebook page. Review: Boss Nass - EI - Basic

Posted by Paul | January 25, 2015 at 04:55 AM EDT |

Too bad most of us didn't know that the Episode I Boss Nass figure was a little short for an Ankura Gungan when he was first released! Thankfully Hasbro made an apology figure update of him for us in the Power Of The Jedi line! See this figure in our Research Droids Reviews today. Posted by Paul | January 24, 2015 at 04:25 AM EDT |

We are going to go through a week of pot luck before delving into an exciting new category of Hasbro products beginning February 1st. Let's start off with the Wookiee Flyer With Wookiee Warrior. Review: Darth Vader (double cape) - POTF2 [FB/CT] - Basic

Posted by Paul | January 22, 2015 at 07:33 AM EDT |

Thank you for your support of our assessments of The Power Of The Force "2" FlashBack and CommTech figures. I didn't believe my friend when he said "talk about POTF2 and they will come". He was right. You have all exceeded our expectations. We will however be moving away from POTF2 and onto other exciting items, but we didn't want to change gears suddenly without letting you know we're thankful for your interest and support in these reviews of old products like these. In the meantime, check out the final basic figure in this category, Darth Vader, and see why he just didn't meet expectations for us in our Research Droids Reviews today. Review: Anakin Skywalker - POTF2 [FB/CT] - Basic

Posted by Paul | January 18, 2015 at 12:40 AM EDT |

This isn't the modern replacement for the 1985 vintage Kenner Anakin Skywalker figure. But because Hasbro refuses to update him correctly, it seems as if we're willing to accept it as such. Review: Hoth Chewbacca - POTF2 [FB/CT] - Basic

Posted by Paul | January 16, 2015 at 07:37 AM EDT |

We suppose Hasbro called this figure Hoth Chewbacca because "Chewbacca (Hoth Terrain Investigation)" was too long and "Chewbacca (Hoth Outfit)" makes absolutely no sense. Think about the latter for a minute. See this first offering of snowy Chewy in our Research Droids Reviews today. Posted by Paul | January 15, 2015 at 01:40 AM EDT |

Yoda has always been done well, but never perfectly in the Hasbro line. This is true of the POTF2 FlashBack Yoda as well. See why this figure is bittersweet in our Research Droids Reviews today. Review: Talking Yoda - Talking Star Wars Figures

Posted by Paul | January 14, 2015 at 12:20 AM EDT |

Well, Disney hit a wall. The Talking Yoda figure has its good points, but it just doesn't fit in with the rest of the Talking Star Wars Figures, something that disappoints us terribly. Posted by Paul | January 13, 2015 at 08:06 AM EDT |

Kenner/Hasbro made a few strides forward with 1998's The Power Of The Force "2" FlashBack Emperor Palpatine figure. But it still has a long way to go. Posted by Paul | January 12, 2015 at 07:59 AM EDT |

The R2-D2 with the launching lightsaber from The Power Of The Force "2" line is the worst basic figure Hasbro ever produced. And that includes "attack" R5-D4. As someone wise (who we highly respected before he reveled in the demise of super-articulation) once said, "the sum of an action figure's parts" can be a huge factor when deciding to purchase a Star Wars action figure. This certainly applies to Luke Skywalker. The T-16 model and the carbon scoring scraper are accessories we will NEVER get again and you need them. See more in our Research Droids Reviews today. Review: Destroyer Droid - POTJ - Mega Action

Posted by Paul | December 29, 2014 at 07:57 AM EDT |

A figure from 2000 that is probably good enough to reuse for 2014 (in The Black Series line) is the Power Of The Jedi Mega Action Destroyer Droid. Of course, a few tweaks would make it perfect, but Hasbro really had something right going on with this figure. And we hope that it will see a tweaked re-release one day.
