January 30, 2012: Summarily An Epic Fail

Well, we had hoped for everyone to find what they needed with the new product launch today, but there are two words to sum up so many collectors' experiences: EPIC FAIL. TARGET has been the worst and they might as well stick their heads up their rear-ends. Out of six TARGET we visited over the course of the day, only one had half a case of The Clone Wars figures in stock and the rest had no idea what we were talking about. (Yes, Cody was all gone at that one store.) We do have to say that Toys R Us came through big time for us. We located no less than 11 cases of The Phantom Menace wave and counted 9 individual Darth Maul figures across all visits. And with buy 2 get one FREE, what more could you want? Walmart was a little better than TARGET, but they both need to get their acts together. JTA reader Andrew J. sends us a quick picture of his experience today. We feel for you Andrew, hopefully your stores will put the stuff out soon. Our friends and colleagues have been reporting the same experience all day too. Click through to see what awaited him.

Hey Paul,

I found all of the vintage figures a few weeks ago and today I've been looking for the vintage packaged vehicles. It's the third Target and second Wal-Mart that I've been to with absolutely nothing out on the pegs. I'm sure the product is in the back room somewhere but no one working seems to know where it is or whats going on.

The search continues. :)

This, Hasbro, is why street dates suck.
