Research Droids Reviews: November 2, 2011 – November 8, 2011

Anakin Skywalker To Darth Vader - SW [SOTDS] - Legacy Of The Dark Side
It just flabbergasts us when Hasbro attempts to reinvent the wheel over and over again. But the reinvention typically is a significantly inferior product when compared to the original. We all knew Hasbro took a bad left turn with the Evolutions line in The Legacy Collection.... (read the full review)

Pre-Cyborg Grievous To General Grievous - SW [SOTDS] - Legacy Of The Dark Side
One of the most standout waves in the history of Star Wars collecting was wave 5 of the 30 (77-07) line. Affectionately referred to as the Expanded Universe wave, it really should have been called a “mixed” wave because it including figures from Return Of The Jedi, Tartakovsky’s Clone Wars and well as various characters from the EU.... Boba Fett (Orphan To Bounty Hunter) - SW [SOTDS] - Legacy Of The Dark Side
The Legacy Of The Dark Side Toys R Us exclusive two-packs were overall a big waste of time for collectors. By way of a very cool Entertainment Earth exclusive Hasbro introduced us all to the Comic Packs line. While many of us had no inkling of who Carnor Jax or Kir Kanos was, we couldn’t deny just how cool they looked as action figures. But when the first wave of non-exclusive Comic Packs began hitting retail in December of 2006, the hair on our backs stood up in irritation of what Hasbro decided to send our way.... Chewbacca/Han Solo - TAC - Comic Packs (No. 04)
Collectors starting chomping at the bit when Hasbro announced the Chewbacca/Han Solo Comic Packs set based on Marvel Comics’ Star Wars #2 comic book. We really didn’t care much that we were getting action figures in funky colors, but because we got one step closer to a movie accurate version of Han Solo in stormtrooper disguise.... Governor Tarkin/Stormtrooper - TAC - Comic Packs (No. 03)
The first wave of the 30 (77-07) Comic Packs line was anything but exciting. Hasbro was on a mission to pay tribute to some of the earliest Star Wars comics and for that we are thankful. But the method in which they reintroduced action figures from the comics left us wanting a lot more..... (read the full review)
