Here is JTA's floor report of Hasbro's 2011 NYCC Hasbro presentation. We took lots of notes and clarified some questions we had with Hasbro. Click through to see what we compiled!

There are two words and three syllables to describe The Clone Wars line in 2012: back burner. It's almost a shock to our system that little to no mention of this line that "breaks all records" is making a little tiny splash in 2012. Seemingly, The Clone Wars line is no longer the concentration at Hasbro. They announced at the presentation that we would only be getting 19 figures in 2012. That is insane. While that sounds way too low and we bet we’ll see a few more get announced and released before the end of 2012, that is quite an alarming number of figures for a line that’s driving the Star Wars brand success at the retail level. (In half of 2010 and all of 2011 we got 63 figures.) In fact, of the 14 figures for 2012 that were shown (only 14 of the 19 total were announced, 5 are still unannounced), only five are all-new figures. So technically right now we’re only getting five (5) all-new figures. Nine were straight repacks mostly from the “Shadow Of The Dark Side” phase of The Clone Wars line (and not even the hard to find ones). We find it particularly bizarre that a line that WAS the main Star Wars product at retail instantly becomes the least promoted in 2012.

On a more positive note, Aayla Secura (CW40) from 2010 is getting a proud rerelease, but the fate of equally difficult to find Commander Bly (CW39) remains elusive. This should elate collectors as her price is just ridiculous on eBay any more. Questions arose about the state of “Shadow Of The Dark Side” unreleased product. At the end of the presentation, a colleague at another fan site asked about the two Class 1 sets that never saw release (Boba Fett and Obi-Wan with Headset with vehicle sets) and Hasbro stated that they couldn’t get them into the line at this point. So right now you can consider them cancelled, temporarily cancelled or just simply postponed. (Typically unreleased items don’t find a home in the line until a few years later. Let’s hope this isn’t the case for these two pieces because they’re awesome.) Then there are the Walmart exclusive DVD sets with new figures. We didn’t get an answer on this, but we expect the same is true for them.

As to why there are next to no basic figures from The Clone Wars being released is a little startling to be honest. The Clone Wars show seems to get bigger and bigger with fans and kids and despite slightly sinking Nielson ratings, it seems to remain an overall success. The part of the presentation that dealt with The Clone Wars line appeared rushed to us, but that may have more to do with the lack of product being introduced. But it does seem like there are gaps and holes that weren’t shown that Hasbro just pulled from the line in order to focus more on Episode I in 3D. Unless more new product is going to be shown at Toy Fair, there are no new vehicles and no new Deluxe sets or other products that we’ve come to adore. In fact, only one new Battle Packs set was shown. (We hope more are in the works!) Could this be a turn of events for The Clone Wars line. With the advent of realistically styled The Clone Wars figures, will the animated line slowly morph into realistic figures? That’s a bit of a stretch, but this direction of this line is certainly raising eyebrows.

This is what we can expect from The Clone Wars line is 2012:

Wave 1:

Savage Opress (TCW [SOTDS] CW55 repack)
Mace Windu (TCW [SOTDS] CW20 repack)
Cad Bane (TCW [SOTDS] CW42 repack)
Yoda (TCW [S2] CW14 repack)
Chewbacca (TCW [SOTS] CW63 repack)
Anakin Skywalker (all-new)
Plo Koon (TCW [SOTDS] CW53 repack)
Aqua Droid (TCW [SOTDS] CW46 repack)
Clone Trooper (phase II) (all-new)
Clone Commander Cody (phase II) (all-new)

Wave 2:

Republic Commando Boss (all-new)
Obi-Wan Kenobi [TCW [SOTDS] CW40 repack)*
Captain Rex (phase II) (all-new)
Aayla Secura (TCW [S2] CW40 repack)

* Obi-Wan Kenobi at the very least should be considered a retool as this version has a new soft-goods skirt. We need more information before we can confirm the actual status.

Battle Packs:

Republic Troopers
(including Hardcase, Bombsquad, and Cutup)
