Topic: Research Droids Reviews

We teased you a week ago and just again yesterday. But the time is NOW! This will be a day long remembered here at Jedi Temple Archives. We don't know where the time goes anymore, but somehow we have reached our 500th Research Droids Reviews entry. To celebrate this landmark, we have given Research Droids Reviews a facelift (and have also added a few new bells and whistles). We hope you like the upgrades we have made. Click through to read more about it and for direct access to our 500th review!

It’s hard to believe that something that started off so simply with the intent to make JTA a little bit more varied and interesting has grown into something that has become our biggest column. It all started on May 24, 2009 when we randomly decided to review 2009’s The Legacy Collection Ugnaught (BD 43). To say it was an amateur review would be an understatement. But something about it grabbed you and after only a few reviews, the comments started coming into us and it kept us motivated to continue bringing them to you daily. Even though the review had a very poor photo gallery and a rather sophomoric write-up, something about the style must have struck a chord and it quickly started taking off like wildfire.

We sincerely thank those of you who were with us in the beginning. We feel we have come along way since our “early days” and as far as we've come, we also feel that Research Droids Reviews still has room to grow. 500 reviews and over 350,000 hits later, Research Droids Reviews have exceeded every expectation we have ever had for the column and “thank you” can’t even come close to expressing how much we are honored by your daily support of the column. We see the trends growing and see greater numbers in the number of you out there who check out the reviews every day. So, a big thanks goes out to you again for that.

To celebrate our 500th review landmark, we wanted to focus on changing our layout instead of writing about a really cool and big product that should get the 500th ranking in our database (even though today's review is pretty darn cool). So we feel that our look and layout are what warrants getting this milestone designation. We think we have hit the exact look and feel of what our Research Droids Reviews column should have always been. And we couldn't be more excited to share it with you. We chose a relatively new product to start off our new format with and it is the relatively new and recently released ARC Troopers Battle Packs set from The Clone Wars line. There is a very thematic look to this column now and we believe it now meets our vision of what this column should have always been. We hope you enjoy the new look of Research Droids Reviews.

The new layout change is really only the beginning. You will still come across some things in Research Droids Reviews in the old look, but we are working hard to get everything uniform. But we do however want to point out to you just some of what has been added to our reviews. Our search engines have been updated. So say you wanted to find all of the Star Wars products inspired from the Innocents Of Ryloth episode of The Clone Wars, all you need to do is type “Innocents Of Ryloth” in the search engine. Say you wanted to find all of the Hasbro products inspired by The Empire Strikes Back? You got it, just type “The Empire Strikes Back” in the search engine. We still want to see more participation in our polls. Please don’t forget to vote. Your voice does matter! Oh, and we put some Easter eggs in for your enjoyment. See if you can find any of them!

We also have added social networking links at the bottom of each review. Please share these with others if you are so inclined. We would like to spread the word about our unique collecting tool and think many others who don’t know about us yet will find this useful in their collecting and enjoy the reviews as you all have. A lot more changes are underway as well. We will be updating all 499 previous reviews in this new format and we are currently working on a “comments module” that will give all of you a “vocal” opportunity to agree or disagree with what the Research Droids put in the Jedi Temple library archives about each and every product. And look for guest reviews in the future as well. (J.K. - I'm looking at you!)

Super special thanks to Chuck Paskovics, our owner and webmaster, for his hours of labor getting the new format just right and for putting up with my constant requests for tweaks left and right without wanting to kill me (that's debatable). (It's amazing he hasn't fired me yet.) And thank you to all my friends and colleagues at the various fansites who read or have ever linked to one of our reviews. That means so much to us also and we are humbled by that! It’s an exciting time here at JTA and we are thrilled you are along for the ride. We couldn’t do it without you. We are so extremely thankful for your patronage of our site and we can't wait until we get out the next 500 reviews! (Yikes!) We hope you like and thoroughly enjoy what you find here!
