Is It Too Risky To Even Ask If Things Could Get Worse At Retail?

Because we don't want that question to make it worse. This isn't doom and gloom and this isn't hysteria. I will even concede it's anecdotal.... in EVERY last store I visit in multiple states. But it's my observation and I am presenting it. I honestly have never seen the Star Wars toy line in a worse state than I do now. (more....)

I remember complaining about how difficult it was to find certain cases of figures years ago during the Golden Era, but current stock moved and new products came in to replace what was sold. Sure, peg-warmers are always a chronic problem, but even those eventually sold (at full price). What's more, when line looks went on sale nationally at a chain, the sale products typically disappeared with the first markdown (with exceptions of course) very shortly after they were repriced. I remember a specific example with the "Shadow Of The Dark Side" Saga Legends line. Those began piling up, but once the line was cancelled and retail began its markdown process, they quickly flew from shelves. In the images taken below just a couple of days ago, these products have been here and not moved at all. These products are more than 50% off. It's such a sad state of affairs anymore. This scene is the same across multiple other locations as well as at other retailers. (Walmart, TARGET and TRU are all in the same/similar state.) It seems there isn't even enough variety in the sale merchandise to motivate buyers. Sigh.
