When the news broke that Rogue One would be undergoing several weeks of reshoots, some people jumped to the conclusion that Rogue One was a troubled production and that the sky was falling. I never bought into that theory and the reaction seemed entirely overblown to me. Virtually every movie of this size will experience reshoots. It happened with The Force Awakens and I'm sure it will happen with Episode 8. The Hollywood Reporter has finally provided some clarity on the secretive Rogue One reshoots though ... Click through for more!

They are reporting that Tony Gilroy (The Bourne Legacy) is an uncredited writer on Rogue One and has taken charge of the film's post production. Apparently Gilroy was the driving force behind the extensive reshoots and is "supervising" the final edit of the film with director Gareth Edwards. Although Gilroy has taken on a large role, The Hollywood Reporter stressed that Edwards is still heavily involved (I would hope so since he's the director). Also of note, sources claim that the reshoots addressed several issues and the ending in particular. Is it encouraging that someone besides the director is reportedly overseeing the final edit of the film? Of course not, but none of this means Rogue One is doomed. It just means they're trying to improve the current cut. Whether it works out or not remains to be seen. We'll find out December 16th.
