Huffington Post: "Even More Hope For A Gay 'Star Wars' Romance"

The Huffington Post attempts to light the internet on fire with an article that focuses on JJ Abrams and his feelings about introducing gay characters into the Star Wars films. While more is developed in the article too, JJ Abrams states that Star Wars now is about inclusivity (does this mean instead of exclusivity?) so it would make sense that these types of characters have always been there and is open to the idea of introducing them as such. (Does this also mean that Star Wars is definitely not about a great universal story anymore and just agenda? – The Force Awakens seems to support this thought already in many ways.) Needless to say, after quickly skimming through some of the heated comments and exchanges already posted, I couldn't help but notice a quote from a gay man who wrote (more....)

"People calm down. These are just rumours, fuelled [sic] by Huff to fill a news feed. Also, as a gay man, I would be disappointed if they just added gay characters in for the hell of it. Except for a few romantic entanglements through the series, Star Wars has really only been about, well, intergalactic feuds. Most characters are largely ambiguous. It's never been about Han and Leia, etc. at least for me. I like to believe that gay characters have always been there, it's just that they are so beyond the stigma and prejudice, that at base level they are all accepting of everyone's sexuality, they simply have bigger fish to fry."

I couldn't agree more with this this gay man's sentiments.
