But What If They Were In The Vintage Collection?

Within moments of posting the Price Hike article, readers at both JTA and Yakface.com began providing confirmations (as well as photos) that the price hike of The Black Series is indeed true and already in progress. Hasbro will tell you that retail sets the prices, but let's be honest. It is THEIR wholesale price that dictates the suggested retail price that gets passed down to us. Anyway, this topic has brewed debate in both camps. Some have posted they're willing to pay up to $15 for a well-painted and well-accessorized action figure (that is an all-new sculpt). Others say they have already been priced out of the market and can only get figures when they become cheap on Amazon.com (and other sites). I have to concede to one thing. Right now, the paint operations on 99% of the TBS and TBS6 figures released to date are NOT worth $12.99/19.99 respectively. Hopefully paint operations will completely turn around by the time Spring 2015 rolls around when these figures get released. But that remains to be seen. What we want to ask you is would the price hike be "less" of a big deal if all of these figure were released in The Vintage Collection packaging? As a loose collector, it's about the only thing that would make me swallow $12.99 for a 3.75" basic figure more easily. How about you?
