42161 Is Not Your Guaranteed Salvation For TBS Darth Vader

We know controversy exists with The Black Series , but we're not going to go into that again here. We have posted this article however to report a "buyer beware" warning to you. You know the recent developments of this figure. A new ball-socket head joint has been tooled to remedy the issue that some/many of these figures where the head just won't stay on the body. But we picked up TWO (2) the so-called confirmed 42161 date-stamped Darth Vader figure and they did not have the upgraded joint. The good news? The head (on this sample too) stays on fine with the shorter geodesic shape allowing for a wide-range of motion. Maybe it doesn't stay on as well as the larger ball-socket joint, but it STAYS on, save for any violent flicking of a finger. We shook it, we turned it and we posed the figure and the head stays on just fine. Our original (orange-carded) sample didn't have the falling-off-if-you-look at it wrong issue either. We have never discounted reports of this issue ever, but at this point it may be a crap-shoot whether or not you'll experience this issue for never or forever. Hopefully new date-stamped figures beyond 42161 will be more consistent with the fix. Click the image below for a larger view.
