Q: Hi Paul, why are we seeing so many versions of figurines in TBS? From the Scout trooper to Mara jade to the 41st elite trooper. add more figures that you can think of. (Ryan M.)

A: Ryan! Don't call them figurines! LOL. I can't say that there are confirmed variations for all of the figures you've mentioned, but the evolution of an action figure to improve upon it has always been part of Hasbro's business. There is even a mantra on all of their products that states the product inside might differ from the pictures on the box. Figures and toys are improved upon and thus a variant is formed. It's just a natural progression in the toy line. In a perfect world, Hasbro wouldn't have any of these updates (because the figures would have been perfectly made from the get go), but it's still good business to correct errors when they happen.

What surprises me all of these years the most however is that Hasbro will change something which I consider insignificant and then leave glaring errors unchanged. (The 2007-2011 Saga Legends 501st Clone Trooper comes immediately to mind.) Communication to factories in China has evidently been especially strained over the last five years too. If you recall, The Legacy Collection and Legacy Collection lines were intended to be full of running change action figures, but only a fraction ever made it out in the line. (Most have since arrived in different formats.) Expect this to always be present if you're an active Star Wars collector. It's just the way it is.
