Another Tidbit Of Hasbro Information Just Found In The Toy Fair Notes....

I found one other bit of interesting news in my Toy Fair notes that I managed to keep away from prying ears and eyes while talking with Hasbro. It isn't a "huge" deal, but it may be of interest to fans of The Vintage Collection. Click through for hopefully the last straggling piece of data from Toy Fair that's Hasbro related. Did I say it was a rough weekend? Yikes!

You may have assumed this, but there will be no more Special Action Figure Sets. TARGET has passed on future sets and does not want any more. Unless Hasbro can find a way to interest another retailer, we may not be seeing these again. This really stinks for me because I want all of them redone in modern status. At CVI, I was told by Hasbro (not Jeff L.) that a Hammerhead and Lobot were sculpted and approved, but I couldn't get Derryl to talk any more about them at Toy Fair. In fact, he denied the initial report saying that they weren't ready. (He must have forgotten he was standing right next to me as the Mr. Merton confirmed this very thing.)

Anyway, I know what I was told and I can confirm that they are ready to go.) So it's likely that they're hoping we will forget about those two figures until they decide to revisit The Vintage Collection in the future since we need modern updates of both characters in that packaging to help complete the original Kenner lineup. I really hope they can interest another retailer to bring them on as store exclusives. Not only will it be great to have modern versions of these classic sets, but the Cantina alien set will give collectors another chance at the fantastic Ponda Baba (Walrus Man) figure.
