Star Wars: Is It LOST Or Found Now?

Wow! It’s been an intense couple of days. New Hasbro announcements have already seemingly overshadowed the truly big announcement that we officially have a new director for Episode VII. So much has been going on in the various rumor mills that it’s been hard to find time to present an overview of personal thoughts regarding the announcement of J.J. Abrams as the director of our next beloved Star Wars film. Click through for more.

My thoughts on this topic will be short and sweet. I am hoping that you, our readership, will be able to give a little more insight on this decision than I will ever be able to do. As a huge fan of LOST and even a bigger lover of the couple of references to Star Wars in the show (the 1977 time period, Hurley writing Episode V in the Some Like It Hoth episode and some other neat blink and you'll miss it Easter eggs), it’s clear that J.J. Abrams is one with the Force and intensely passionate about this franchise. Other than LOST, I don't know much about his work. I really didn't get all of the lens flare jokes but I wonder if there could be room for concern in other areas.

Many LOST fans were disappointed with the "explanation" in the series finale. I won't get into an argument about this here, but even though LOST has come and gone, I feel that I was entitled to some explanations that never came, like the whole polar bears thing. (Again, I am not going to argue with you if you think this was explained because it wasn't for me.) I seek really deep meanings to things and the symbolism in LOST was truly intense and kept my mind going and going and going, but some grueling questions and other things were abandoned much to my chagrin.

Will JJ Abrams keep the new Star Wars film in check? Will he take it to the next level? Will we see time travel? These questions and more are beginning to burn on our minds. I just hope we don't get the cliffhanger of a lifetime in Episode VII. But what do you feel? What do you think of this announcement? Is Star Wars "LOST"? Is the news of J.J. Abrams taking the reins only the beginning of a great thing? Weigh in on the discussion!
