Well, most of us are still here, but you just KNEW that there had to be a connection to Star Wars right? Special thanks to JTA moderator Paul B. for the link!

What does Star Wars and the Mayan apocalypse that's expected to go down on Friday have in common?

Hint: It has nothing to do with Jar Jar Binks.

The connection, rather, has to do with the fact that when George Lucas was shooting the original 1977 flick, he had the ruins of the Maya temples in Tikal, Guatemala, double as moon Yavin 4. You know, where the rebel alliance launched its attack on the Death Star.

If the world doesn't end, Star Wars 7 will be coming in 2015.

As a result, the site has become quite the destination spot over the years for both Star Wars fans and folks who fear the Earth is about to be obliterated. Or sometimes, a combination of the two.

"The force is strong here," one tourist told Reuters. "The world as we know it is coming to an end."

OK. We'll stop now.

After all, if it all really is true and we only have a few precious hours left, you probably would rather spend them with loved ones instead of reading.

Or, at the very least, watch Star Wars one last time.
