Research Droids Reviews: January 11, 2012 – January 17, 2012

Qui-Gon Jinn - TVC - Basic (VC75)
Time has an amazing ability to put things into perspective. When the 2008 TAC The Jedi Legacy Evolutions set came out, collectors pretty much believed we received the definitive Qui-Gon Jinn figure. That figure has become a mainstay ever since, so we actually thought correctly that this would be Hasbro’s “go to” figure when a release of Qui-Gon Jinn was needed.... (read the full review)

Obi-Wan Kenobi - TVC - Basic (VC76)
This may come across as hypocritical since we raved about this figure when it got released in the Legacy Collection, but Obi-Wan Kenobi (VC75) is so “2009” it isn’t even funny anymore. This figure has the potential to be killer and for all intents and purposes it’s a great figure.... (read the full review)

Darth Maul [2011 PGM Exclusive] - Mini Bust
2012 is all about the resurrection of The Phantom Menace for Star Wars fans, but this time in glorious and high definition 3D. For the first time Star Wars enthusiasts can experience the very first episode in the Star Wars saga in three-dimensions, something that thrills some while many other are indifferent.... Battle Droids (Infantry) - Militaries Of Star Wars - 1:6 Scale Figures
We tried to think of the best way to open this review with constraint, refinement and professionalism, but it unfortunately doesn’t look like that is going to be possible. We are out of control with our elation for the incredible effort Sideshow Collectibles has put forth in their awesome interpretation of the Episode I Battle Droid two-pack, and it’s a character we’re quite ambivalent about because they just aren’t the most engaging characters in the Prequel Trilogy.... Stormtrooper - Premium Format Figures
There’s an old adage that states time heals all wounds. That popular phrase may just apply to Sideshow Collectibles’ Premium Format Figures line. After a rough start, Sideshow Collectibles has progressively gotten better and better with this format.... (read the full review)

Kit Fisto (The Clone Wars) - Maquettes
Depending upon your point of view, it probably could be said that Kit Fisto has seemingly risen to A-list Star Wars character status from his previous B-list or C-list status thanks to his appearances in The Clone Wars. This striking Jedi is a cult favorite amongst many Star Wars fans and it was great to learn about him on an entirely different level in The Clone Wars television.... (read the full review)

Republic Gunship [Lucky Lekku] - TCW [F/S1] - Vehicles (Exclusive)
Hasbro made two things very clear while The Clone Wars toy line was being produced. They confirmed with the collecting community that the action figures would be a hybrid of their animated look with some realistic details worked in to them (although they looked about 99% animated to us) and the vehicles would all be realistically styled (since there is little to no differences between the vehicles in the Star Wars live action films versus The Clone Wars animated film and television show or so they said)....
