The Emperor's
Royal Guard is beautifully recreated in 1/6 scale. This is the first 12" scale
Emperor's Royal Guard since the POTF era. It is nice to see another Imperial soldier
recently reinvented to prove how far artistic sculpting and technology have come to create
excellent collectibles. This figure doesn't dissapoint. This is a must have if you
collect the RAH line. The
fabric used for the robes is very unique and leaves you with
the thought that this is what the material must have felt like
for the costumes used in the movie! The bottoms of both the
outer crimson robe and inner burgundy robe have metal wiring
sewn in the bottom for super posability. This seems to be a
new standard for 12" figures, especially the high-end 12"
figures. I actually have mixed feelings for this wire used in
this particular fabric. The robes would have hung naturally on their own with a heavy drape and without the assistance of wire. But the wiring
needs to futzed with and battled against in order to make it look good, almost as
if the wire is working against you. And once you think
you have the robes in a pose that you want, you may
need to start all over again, because that darn wire doesn't seem to stay put and alters
that natural flow and drape every time you touch it.
This
figure is currently out of stock but a Wait List is available at Sideshow
Collectibles. The RAH line is a very impressive set of figures.
I am a big fan of Japanese imported collectibles
and this is another beautiful piece to add to my collection. Although many collectors
display the RAH figures with their other 12" figures, this
collection is really a line to itself. They are in a smaller
scale and are a bit shorter than your other 12"
figures - but not enough to detract from their extremely high
quality.
