More Insight On The Black Series Solid Case Pack Plan And Its Fate

Posted by Paul | March 11, 2015 at 08:09 PM ET

We have additional information surrounding solid case assortments and its fate from a confidential informant. Click through to learn more.

Although there seems to be denial that solid case packs even exist, evidence exists that figures like Luke (Wampa Attack), R5-G19, Darth Malgus, Galen Marek (Starkiller) have all been shipped this way. (We also believe Darth Vader has also been made into solid case packs too.)

It's rare if any Big Box store has received solid case packs however. These just don't meet their retail needs. Big Box is always going to prefer a mixed case since their customers include a mix of kids and collectors. Really, the only people that are going to buy solid case packs are the online guys (HTS, Amazon, BBTS, Dorkside) and distributors like EE and Diamond Select.

As far which solid case packs have and haven't been released, Ree-Yees, Jabba's Skiff Guard, Wedge Antilles (Snowspeeder Pilot) were all suppose to arrive last fall, but sadly all of them were cancelled. This is why these are going to be difficult to find in the near future. Two of these figures were only one per case.

Provided they don't get cancelled, almost every figure from TBS wave 7 and TBS wave 8 is suppose to come in solid case packs. (Wolffe, Doom, Rex, Chewy, Dutch Vander, INC, EP IV Leia, Leia Boushh, C-3PO, Vader Yoda's Test, Mosep Binneed, Thorn, etc.) It is however JTA's personal opinion that there will have to be some cancellations of these. If we're wrong about this, we're wrong. You'll have to take the gamble. That's about as much as we're willing to assert.

That said, this list came out at the end of the summer last year, when these were suppose to ship in the fall. Now that they have been bumped back, we strongly suspect several of them will get dropped. Many online shops have pre-ordered many of the solid case packs of expected great-selling figures like the clones and Princess Leia (Boushh).

So yes, wave 7 and wave 8 are still looking good at the moment, but going forward the solid case packs are suppose to being going away. This friends, is terrible news, especially after Hasbro at Toy Fair confirmed that solid case packs was a positive thing and working well. It's the reason you can still find Boba Fett and Stormtrooper for retail or less than retail costs. Always one step forward two steps back Hasbro is.
