Research Droids Reviews: November 20, 2013 – December 3, 2013

Lama Su (With Clone Youth) - SW [S - P2] - Basic (’03 #10)
Who would have imagined that the creator of the Army of the Republic would be an extraordinarily tall and think alien? Maybe that thought isn’t so hard to comprehend in the Prequel Trilogy, but it may have been quite the puzzle in the Original Trilogy. After an investigation by Obi-Wan Kenobi, research droids SP-4 & JN-66 were unable to locate the origin of the saber-dart that was used to exterminate Zam Wesell outside of the Outlander Nightclub.... R2-D2 (Droid Factory Flight) - SW [S - P2] - Basic (’03 #09)
R2-D2 (Droid Factory Flight) may be the worst figure in the entire Star Wars “Saga” line. When we look at figures like this, we have to really ask what Hasbro could have possibly been thinking. The “attack” R5-D4 figure from The Power Of The Force “2” line may be better than this one.... (read the full review)

Mace Windu (Arena Confrontation) - SW [S - P2] - Basic (’03 #02)
How does one describe what in theory is a terrible action figure, but actually possesses some endearing qualities when you look at it in a different light, perhaps as anything BUT an action figure? (How does one even do that?) This line of thought is absolutely oxy-moronic, but we’re not sure how else we can explain the craziness that befits Mace Windu (Arena Confrontation).... Obi-Wan Kenobi (Acklay Battle) - SW [S - P2] - Basic (’03 #01)
We probably can’t claim that every collector loved the Geonosis Arena sequence from Star Wars Episode II: Attack Of The Clones, but we still feel however that even if you didn’t enjoy the film, you found something exciting or at least interesting in these scenes.... (read the full review)

Dengar - Jumbo Vintage Kenner Figures
The Jumbo Vintage Kenner Figures line to proceeding fast and furious. Gentle Giant Ltd. has already knocked out all of the characters from the 21-backs category, and now they’ve moving briskly into the figures themed from The Empire Strikes Back.... (read the full review)

Dexter Jettster (Coruscant Informant) - SW [S - P1] - Basic (’02 #16)
Where the Prequel Trilogy films were often criticized for “shrinking” the Star Wars universe, there are probably just as many characters to show its breadth and deepness contrarily.... (read the full review)

Modal Nodes (Nalan Cheel & Tedn Dahai) - Scum & Villainy - 1:6 Scale Figures
Remember when getting any collectible format of the members from Figrin D’an & The Modal Nodes was a collector’s dream? The novelty has certainly worn off throughout the years. Many believe the intense desire to have these characters from the jazzy Jizz Band in any collectible format is directly due to the fact and derived from the intense desire that we never received them as kids in the late seventies and early eighties.... Obi-Wan Kenobi (Jedi Master) [Episode IV] - Order Of The Jedi - 1:6 Scale Figures
We have said this for ages now, and we’ll continue to do so. No matter the licensee, collectible interpretations of Obi-Wan Kenobi (based on his appearance in A New Hope) typically turn out better than average. This certainly applies to Obi-Wan Kenobi (Jedi Master) [Episode IV] from Sideshow Collectibles proud Order Of The Jedi 1:6 Scale Figure line.... (read the full review)

Luke Skywalker (Rebel Hero: Yavin IV) - Heroes Of The Rebellion - 1:6 Scale Figures
2007 was the year that the Star Wars community celebrated the 30th anniversary of Star Wars, the franchise, and not specifically Episode IV. Thankfully, most licenses took the time during this celebration to pay homage to A New Hope, and many of the products developed for this landmark focused on characters and “things” that surrounded the film.... Princess Leia (As Boushh) - Heroes Of The Rebellion - 1:6 Scale Figures
One of the greatest things about growing up with the Original Trilogy is that we got to experience all of the surprises in the films first hand without them hearing about them from a legendary sense in popular culture. We actually were there and experienced the surprise firsthand.... (read the full review)

Rebel Commando (Infantryman: Endor) - Militaries Of Star Wars - 1:6 Scale Figures
Sideshow Collectibles was the first Star Wars licensee to present high-end collectors with 1:6 scale Rebel Commando figures. A core character back in the Kenner days in 3.75” scale, it’s quite surprising that Hasbro didn’t release a 12” version of this character somewhere along the way.... (read the full review)

Rebel Commando (Sergeant: Endor) - Militaries Of Star Wars - 1:6 Scale Figures
Sideshow Collectibles truly went all out when they decided to add the Rebel Commando characters from the Battle Of Endor into their 1:6 Scale Figures lineup. Not only were they the inaugural pieces for theMilitaries Of Star Wars branch of the line, they came to collectors in the form of a literal trio.... (read the full review)

Darth Vader (Sith Apprentice) - Lords Of The Sith - 1:6 Scale Figures
Sideshow Collectibles wasted no time releasing their very first 1:6 Scale Figure exclusive for San Diego Comic Con. After the announcement that a 1:6 Scale Figure line was in motion at end of 2005, Sideshow Collectibles got started right away on some of the inaugural pieces for the line. 2006 brought collectors the first three general release 1:6 Scale Figures....
