Research Droids Reviews: May 9, 2012 – May 15, 2012

Neimoidian Warrior - ROTS - Basic (III 42)
Up until Star Wars Episode III: Revenge Of The Sith hit theaters, fans really didn’t see the less glamorous side of Neimoidian life. Assumptions were made that they were all rich and snooty Separatists making the lives of those who lived in the Republic a daily struggle during the days of the Clone Wars.... (read the full review)

Neimoidian Commander - ROTS - Basic (III 63)
As Hasbro was gearing up to release the all-encompassing The Saga Collection in December 2005, they saw it fit to release two more additional “unplanned” waves of the hugely successful Revenge Of The Sith line. Interestingly, these two waves brought collectors some of the greatest action figures.... (read the full review)

Chancellor Palpatine - ROTS - Basic (III 14)
Except for the Jedi, many other of the various characters in Revenge Of The Sith were seen wearing very ornate outfits and sometimes these characters even had multiple costume changes. Chancellor Palpatine is one of these characters than changed appearance more than just a few times in the film. For the most part, Hasbro has been steady with releasing each one by one in the basic figure line ever since the Episode I line.... (read the full review)

Count Dooku - ROTS - Basic (III 13)
The Revenge Of The Sith line contained some surprises for collectors. And surprisingly Hasbro made characters we already received the most impressive. Perhaps they were pressured to show growth and development of Prequel Trilogy characters that don’t fair as well by 2005 standards. Take for instance Count Dooku, an incredibly updated action figure that should remain one of the finest representations of him in the basic figure line for years to come.... (read the full review)

Darth Malgus - TVC - Basic (VC96)
We have been collecting since “forever”, but one thing we haven’t come to terms with understanding yet is how some Expanded Universe characters gain the notoriety that they do. There are collectors out there in the collecting community that would just assume to never see another Momaw Nadon or Ree-Yees super-articulated update produced again by Hasbro in favor of more EU characters just like this Darth Malgus and this is something that makes movie fans like ourselves cringe with disbelief.... (read the full review)

Anakin Skywalker - TVC - Basic (VC92)
The biggest announcement from Hasbro in 2008 that put Star Wars fans in a tizzy almost to the point of making them inconsolable was that they would be creating action figures from The Clone Wars multimedia event as they actually appeared.... in animated style. You see, most Star Wars action figure collectors up to this point were used to Hasbro making realistic interpretations of the various characters from the 2003-2005 Clone Wars multimedia event, even including the animated Genndy Tartakovsky micro-series.... (read the full review)

R2-D2 - ROTS - Basic (III 7)
It can be maddening when Hasbro designs an all-new sculpt for a long-awaited Star Wars character and then decides to throw in an annoying action feature isn’t it? That’s precisely how we feel about R2-D2 (III 7) from the Revenge Of The Sith line.... (read the full review)
