Research Droids Reviews: February 29, 2012 – March 6, 2012

Naboo Royal Fighter With Obi-Wan Kenobi - SW [TPM 3D] - Deluxe
We can tell you one thing’s for certain after only 30 days from the release of The Phantom Menace 3D toy line. Hasbro better not release the 2009 Legacy Collection Obi-Wan Kenobi (BD06) figure in any configuration ever again.... (read the full review)

Luke Skywalker (Lightsaber Construction) - TVC - Basic (VC87)
Hasbro never ceases to amaze us. Back when we found out that the Return Of The Jedi Luke Skywalker figure Hasbro was going to release in wave 3 of 2010’s The Vintage Collection line was not coming with his tunic or Jedi robe and was based on his capture at Endor, collectors everywhere began hammering Hasbro with questions on if and when we would be receiving a Luke Skywalker figure purely based on his Jedi Knight appearance.... Lando Calrissian (Sandstorm Outfit) - TVC - Basic (VC89)
We know that Hasbro likes to release action figures by theme whenever possible. This worked very well for the Build A Droid line since you needed to buy all the figures to construct the pack-in pieces into a new figure. The early waves of 2012 also follow this protocol. Hasbro released 12 figures in wave 10 to coincide with The Phantom Menace 3D in theaters and then wave 11 is based on Return Of The Jedi deleted scenes exclusive to the Blu-ray box set.... Princess Leia (Sandstorm Outfit) - TVC - Basic (VC88)
It’s quite a thing that Princess Leia in her skimpy slave outfit doesn’t get the least bit boring throughout the years. Hasbro developed a definitive version of her in this outfit and released it as 2009’s LC Princess Leia (BC17) figure. It was so good that Hasbro felt it worthy enough to bring it forth into The Vintage Collection as 2011’s TVC Princess Leia (Slave Outfit) (VC64) figure.... (read the full review)

Colonel Cracken (Millennium Falcon Crew) - TVC - Basic (VC90)
This isn’t the first time we got a Colonel Cracken figure in the basic figure line you know. Apparently some Star Wars collectors don’t realize this. What confuses us about people not realizing this fact is that Colonel Cracken’s likeness (from a publicity still) actually appeared on the packaging on both of 2006’s TSC Rebel Trooper (SAGA 046) figures! (read the full review)

Rebel Pilot (Mon Calamari) - TVC - Basic (VC91)
The Rebel Alliance certainly had its share of heroes in A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back. However, something always seemed a bit odd: the Rebels were fighting for freedom from oppression and discrimination, yet apparently no aliens had joined the Rebel cause! (read the full review)

Rebel Heroes - SW [TPM 3D] - Battle Packs
If you don’t like reading negativity the perhaps it’s best if you move along right now. We’ll give you a few moments to find a happier review…. We have never been so offended in recent memory than we were with the release of the Rebel Heroes Battle Packs set released as part of 2012”s SW [TPM 3D] line.... (read the full review)
