Memo To Hasbro: We're Not Gonna Take It Anymore!

Posted by Paul | September 17, 2010 at 09:01 AM ET

OK, we have another rant. And you, our readers, seem to get a kick out of when we blow our tops. So here we go again....

Walmart (in general) is drowning in the old Legacy Collection Saga Legends figures. And in particular Obi-Wan Kenobi (Starfighter Pilot - yes the one that was just released in The Vintage Collection) is clogging up shelves along with the Episode III Clone Trooper, Saesee Tiin, Plo Koon and even shockingly the Shock Trooper and 501st Legion Clone Trooper. Our rant is directed particularly at the current format of their Saga Legends line. Why, oh why Hasbro must you rerelease the same old figures time and again? Do you not recall the success of the 30 (77-07)'s group of Saga Legends figure? They were almost as exciting to buy as the main line figures. (And that brings us to another point. Why were you able to successfully get a bazillion running changes into that line without issue? We got like 4 Battle Droids variations, 4 Clone Trooper Officer variations and 4 Sandtrooper variations all without any problems.) But we digress.... (keep reading after the photo)

Not only are the red Legacy Collection Saga Legends infiltrating the toy aisles [still], you just released many of THE SAME ONES again in the "Shadow Of The Dark Side" line. Interestingly, our local Walmart has put the older Saga Legends on clearance for $4.50 each. Hm, a Saga Legends figure I DON'T want for $4.50 or or the same Saga Legends figure I DON'T WANT for $6.96? Please redirect at least a portion of the Saga Legends platform back to collectors who actually buy these figures in mutiples. Hey, it would be a great place to get SIMPLE repaints of Build A Droid parts to make new droids for us here and there and we miss those obscure pack-in figures that saw carded glory for the first time like R4-I9, RA-7 Droid from the Sandcrawler and Zev Senesca. Please don't slap us in the face any longer? Get Saga Legends back to its roots or it's in danger of suffering the same fate as Comic Packs, Evolutions (and we fear Battle Packs - if Hasbro doesn't get that line back on track soon as well). Once again, help us Hasbro, you're our only hope.
