When Hasbro announced their new Fans' Choice Poll at 2009's San Diego Comic Con, they put the question not just to the fan's, but all of the web sites that participate in Hasbro's Star Wars Q&A process ( Jedi Temple Archives included) to take part in the process. The results of the polling from all of the Q&A sites was then forwarded on to Hasbro and Toyfare magazine. They judged the results from the first round and came up with a list of 30 characters from whom the Star Wars collecting community would choose the next Hasbro Star Wars Fans' Choice Figure. As a quick refresher here are those top 30 candidates in alphabetical order:

Admiral Pellaeon - Expanded Universe
Barriss Offee - Attack Of The Clones
Bastila Shan - Knights Of The Old Republic video games
Ben Quadinaros - The Phantom Menace
Bom Vimdim - A New Hope
Cane Adiss - Return Of The Jedi
Cliegg Lars - Attack Of The Clones
Corde - Attack Of The Clones
Darth Caedus - Expanded Universe novels
Darth Plagueis - mentioned in Revenge Of The Sith, visualized in EU reference books
Darth Sidious - Senate Duel - Revenge Of The Sith
Dash Rendar - Shadows Of The Empire multimedia project
Dorme - Attack Of The Clones
Dr. Evazan - A New Hope
Grand Moff Tarkin - A New Hope
Guri - Shadows Of The Empire multimedia project
Jaxxon - Marvel comics
Jocasta Nu - Attack Of The Clones
Joruus C'baoth - Expanded Universe
Kittster Banai & Wald - The Phantom Menace
Queen Apailana - Revenge Of The Sith
Queen Jamilla - Attack Of The Clones
Rebel Fleet Trooper - A New Hope
Sergeant Doallyn - Return Of The Jedi
Sim Aloo - Return Of The Jedi
Taym Dren-Garen - Return Of The Jedi
Tey How - The Phantom Menace
Toryn Farr - The Empire Strikes Back
Tzizvvt - A New Hope
Weequay Skiff Master - Return Of The Jedi

But enough background. So what's the word from Toyfare magazine in anticipation of the announcement of the winner? For that let's go to Toyfare Editor Justin Aclin for the inside dish:

JEDI TEMPLE ARCHIVES: So when will the results be published?

TOYFARE: The results of the poll (the winner, as well as the Top 5 placers) will be announced in ToyFare #151, on sale in comic shops on Wednesday, January 13th.

JTA: Will readers get a rundown on how the votes were distributed?

TOYFARE: I didn’t include it in the article, but I can tell you that the winner got about 10% more votes than the second-place finisher. The big drop was between fourth and fifth place – fifth got about half the votes that fourth did. So the top four were definitely the most popular.

JTA: Were there any surprises in this particular poll?

TOYFARE: I think there were a lot of really strong contenders in the poll. The big surprise is that my personal choice didn’t win, but I didn’t go ahead and cook the books to make sure he did. :) Honestly, though, it’ll be interesting to see how quickly it takes Hasbro to work their way through this list like they did with the last poll. They’re obviously listening to what the fans are interested in.

JTA: Have there been any indications from Hasbro on when the Fans' Choice figure may make it to retail?

TOYFARE: That’s indicated by Hasbro in the article in the issue.

JTA: In the last poll that Hasbro conducted with Toyfare the fan's voted the most for Quinlan Vos, but Hasbro already had him in the production queue. And the runner-up, Darth Revan was actually promoted to the winner's position. Were any candidates disqualified this time around for similar or other reasons?

TOYFARE: The winner in votes is also the Fans' Choice figure – there is no Darth Revan/Quinlan Vos situation this time.

And there it is. Toyfare issue #151 hits the newstands and comic shops this coming wednesday, and subscribers should have the magazine in hand shortly before that. So who will the winner be? You're going to have to buy your own copy to find out! But JTA will continue to report on the Fans' Choice Figure Poll process as that news comes to light and in preparation for the winner making it to the pegs at a retailer near you.

Our thanks go out to Justin Aclin at Toyfare magazine for his participation in this article, and to you, the loyal Jedi Temple Archives readers for your support and participation in JTA's part of the polling process. MTFBWY!
