McQuarrie Concept Collection - Itemized List Of Differences!

Posted by Paul | October 31, 2009 at 06:10 PM ET

You have heard all the reports on the differences made to the McQuarrie figures in the Toys R Us exclusive packs. We have done our best to compile them into one easy reading report. If you notice any others, let us know and we will update this report. Click through to check out the scoop of what just makes these figures the same or different!

Ralph McQuarrie Concept Collection (1 of 2)

Obi-Wan Kenobi
What you need to know: He is missing the lightsaber hilt that attaches to the clip on his belt. The purple plastic cast parts are a darker purple and the color on his neck has been darkened to better match the the color of his head.

Yoda
What you need to know: Yoda is complete but he has more of a solid color look to his head with less contrast of two different green colors.

Chewbacca
What you need to know: Chewbacca does not come with his blaster pistol. His vest in cast in a lighter gray color and the shoelaces in his boots are painted a darker (or more golden) yellow. Also, his blaster rifle has been given a dark black wash and has a new darker tint to it.

Han Solo
What you need to know: Han Solo comes without his lightsaber hilt and blaster pistol. His face and hair have been painted in a darker colors and actually make him look much better. There could be shade differences in the browns and purples, but it isn't enough to state as an official difference.

Boba Fett
What you need to know: Boba Fett comes without the alternate head (seen directly above). He also comes without the flame accessory. The darker portions of the jumpsuit are a few shades different than the orihinal release as is some of the blue colored details. These are barely noticeable differences, but do exist.

C-3PO
What you need to know: This newly released version has a much darker bronze wash that the original carded exclusive figure. While all of the original C-3PO figures are technically unique from each other due to the the way the wash dried, we can tell you that this wash is indeed different.

R2-D2
What you need to know: There are no noticeable differences on this version of R2-D2.

Ralph McQuarrie Concept Collection (2 of 2)

Rebel Trooper
What you need to know: Hasbro has revisited the eye paint application on this figure. Most (if not all) 30th Anniversary Collection versions had a freaky "looking up" style to them with large whites of the eyes drooping below the bottom eye line (as seen in the thumbnail above). This has been corrected and the eyes are quite similiar to Starkiller's eyes now. Interesting! The yellow bloodstripe on the uniform looks to be a bolder yellow now.

Starkiller Hero
What you need to know: Starkiller Hero comes without her lightsaber. There also is a new darker brown wash on her boots (significant) and in the brown/tan portions on her uniform (less significant).

Luke Skywalker
What you need to know: Luke Skywalker is complete. His hair looks to be a shade or two darker that the original release.

Darth Vader
What you need to know: What a terrible shame, Darth vader is missing his alternate head and blaster pistol! We are beginning to wonder if Hasbro is going to make up for all of these missing pieces! There are no noticeable paint differences on this Darth Vader.

Stormtrooper
What you need to know: The Stormtrooper is missing his beautifully sculpted shield and his blaster pistol. How disappointing! So he has a big ugly and empty holster on his person now and nothing to block laser blasts. He is now cast is a very striking white plastic and looks much cleaner than the previous version. The dots on his mouth have been muted and are not as bright as before and the gray details are a tad darker than before as well.

Snowtrooper
What you need to know: We do not notice too many differences on the new version of the Snowtrooper. But the uniform looks to be a shade different (lighter) than the first release. But it is so slight we can't really claim it to be an official difference.

Special thanks to my good buddy Jayson at Yakface.com for his itemized list of missing parts!
