Memo To Hasbro - What's Going On?

Posted by Paul | October 08, 2009 at 10:18 PM ET

We don't mean to over-editorialize here at JTA, but we MUST voice our concerns about the lack of Legacy Collection figures making their way to store shelves. Click through to hear our rant and see a nice big photo of what the stores think is "new product".

THIS IS MADNESS!!! This is what we're getting folks! Nary a (Droid Factory) figure in sight and if they do hit stores they sell out within seconds. Our trip today to three Toys R Us stores, two TARGET stores, and four Walmart stores in the Philly area yielded nothing but shelves loaded with repeat and very old Saga Legends figures (that themselves have been repackaged multiple time already). And if we were lucky, we found a few "kinda" new The Clone Wars figures. But we want to know where the Legacy Collection figures are! We miss building droids! Hasbro, how do you expect to meet/exceed projections and goals when this is the only stuff you send out? These figures have been out since June and are getting way too much billing than they deserve! Where are all the new Legacy Collection figures? Please change your shipping protocol (or save Saga Legends for rainy days or during lulls, not when a ton of new figures are due). If this isn't the problem then please tell us what is? When we ask the retail clerks and store managers, they blame you for not sending anything. When we ask you, you say the main line figures are not being ordered in the same numbers as yesteryear. Why this circular blame?

Let's resolve the issue immediately, so we can buy us some figures! Please stop repackaging old figures for a good while until you catch up on the new figures! Something has to change! Change is needed now, not months from now, but NOW! How can we support a line we cannot find to purchase? Please diminish retail space for Saga Legends and even The Clone Wars if you have to because we want our movie inspired figures badly! We are hoping that these figures will be hitting hard very shortly, but it has been an extremely frustrating Fall so far! It has been anything but a Red October for the red Legacy Collection figures. Please get them off of your backburner and get them to the forefront of our store shelves. The main line deserves more respect than it is getting. While we don't claim to understand the all the behind the scenes stuff, we wonder if perhaps the best thing to do is to lump all three collections in one assortment (one line), at least that would guarantee Legacy Collection figures making their way into retail. If that isn't feasible, then we need another solution. But no matter what, something has got to give. Help us Hasbro, you're our only hope!

This is what a very excited Toys R Us manager showed us and eagerly exclaimed were cases and cases of new product. It's October, Hasbro. Is this the best you can do for us? And now that stores are overloaded with Saga Legends, does this mean Droid Factory figures are even further delayed?
