The Convolution Surrounding TARGET's Stock Replenishment Of TBS6

Posted by Paul | May 10, 2017 at 09:44 AM ET

We have received intel from an anonymous source with regards to why new The Black Series [Phase III] 6" figures just aren't showing up, or showing up on sale at TARGET. Please note that we are personally unable to confirm the details of the information contained within this report, but we find it interesting enough to share with our readers. Please keep yourself grounded with this information until it can be confirmed otherwise. Apparently, there is a reason we have not been seeing new stuff at TARGET in The Black Series 6" line. This is an issue that began with the Rogue One release date. (more....)

TBS6 figures are entering the store under case assortment 087-06-8009 and leaving the store under DPCI 087-06-3953. The inventory numbers nationwide are off by the thousands.

The restock of older figures like Ahsoka Tano, Luke Skywalker (ANH), etc. are under a different DPCI number. The cases that come into stores fall under 087-06-8009 and sometimes the contents are mixed. But the only figures that fall under 8009 that actually leave the store at 8009 are K-2SO, Cassian Andor, Jyn Eros, Imperial Death Trooper, Kylo Ren (UNmasked) and Jango Fett. Everything else leaves the store under 087-06-3953 which at every store stock shows 0 units for (Baze Malbus and Chirrut Imwe are also under this DPCI).

However, case ordering goes under 087-06-8009 and since the numbers are off by double digits at each store no stores are ordering new figures. The only time they got new stuff was during the Rogue One release when TARGET stores received the kicker displays that came pre-packed with TBS6 figures.

I figured since you talk to people at Hasbro perhaps you can get through to them to try to let them know what happened. Because the inventory numbers are off so badly, TARGET has marked the figures down to 9.89 and then clearanced out the 087-06-3953 DPCI which is why Chirrut Imwe and Baze Malbus are sometimes found already on clearance although they are coming out the 087-06-8009 case assortment.

Anyone can verify these numbers by doing Brickseek stock checks or going to your local store and having them do an inventory check. Each and every store that I checked in my area is off by double digits. The way their ordering system works is that they auto order / grey sticker a shelf tag when the quantity reaches a certain threshold. Since this is never met no new items ever get ordered.

This is literally a nationwide epidemic as far as Rogue One distribution is concerned. It has totally messed up The Black Series [Phase III] line for TARGET Walmart's issues exist because they over-ordered wave 1. That is why they are so clogged. But TARGET's issue is inventory based that began by sticking the UPC under a different DPCI and then not marking existing inventory correctly. They stuck some figures under the old DPCI instead of the new one. In fact most TBS6 figures like Director Krennic, C-3PO (Resistance Base), and Scarif Stormtrooper Squad Leader from wave 2 fall under the old DPCI as well.

I am afraid they are marking them down and/or clearancing out the 087-06-3853 stock so they can do another reset with the next wave of TBS6 figures including Lando Calrisian, Qui-Gon Jinn, etc., but if the numbers are still off they will not get ordered for restock maybe only sent initial shipments. Luckily the 40th series has a new DPCI: 087-06-7985.
