Bleeding Cool is reporting that Hasbro is about to relaunch the GI Joe toy line soon, but with a "Millennial" focus. (Do they come with security blankets and an extra dose of entitlement or something? Kidding! Some of my closest friends.... are parents of millennials, God bless them.) Anyway, Bleeding Cool accuses Hasbro of not understanding the franchise's core audience. Can you say déjà vu? People inaccurately accuse me of gloom and doom, but the fact of the matter is the basic action figure lines in Star Wars as well as across other brands is changing to its detriment. The truth is often hard to hear. I really don't think we're ever going back folks. Stick a fork in it. Anyway, check out this article. Hopefully Hasbro can find a way to explain to millennials who GI Joe even is. Hasbro says "We hope to create a head snap. It’s a different kind of Joe — one that still resonates with Joe fans but brings in an uninitiated audience and expands the audience internationally and domestically.” (Can't you do that after we're dead, Hasbro?)
