The backbone of the powerful Imperial Starfleet, the Star Destroyer, is the second coin to be added to the new Star Wars Ships coin collection from New Zealand Mint. It featured in a number of Star Wars movies including Star Wars: A New Hope, Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back and Star Wars: Return of the Jedi. Following the design of the first coin in the collection – the Millennium Falcon - the Star Destroyer coin is also coloured and engraved, featuring part of the design blueprint for the ship. Presented in a high-quality Star Wars branded and stylized inner coin packaging, it is a fabulous collectible for any fan! The Certificate of Authenticity sits within the coin case.

Star Destroyer
This wedge-shaped ship evolved from the smaller Venator-class Star Destroyer, a mainstay of the Republic Navy during the Clone Wars. This later Imperial-class built upon the strengths of these Republic predecessors.

It’s a capital ship bristling with weapons emplacements. Turbolasers and tractor beam projectors dot its surface. Its belly hangar bay can launch TIE fighters, boarding craft, land assault units, hyperspace probes, or be used to hold captured craft. In the days of the Empire, its bustling bridge would be staffed by the finest crewers in the Imperial starfleet. Its presence in a system marks matters of extreme Imperial import.
