Would This Scenario Have Worked For 3.75" Super-Articulated Collectors?

(Because it seems to be working for 6"collectors!) Hasbro has made it clear through various Q&As and interviews that a big part of the reason the super-articulated line had to be relegated to a store exclusive is because the line couldn't sustain itself. A higher MSRP would be needed to keep it a main line item. So, instead of retiring it, they decided instead to partner with Walmart. Keeping it at one place with the higher MSRP was somehow more cost effective than keeping it a main line item. That's paraphrased, but pretty much the gist. (more....)

So now we have The Black Series 6" line as the main line product instead. And if you're a fan of this line, you find value in a slightly bigger action figures by paying 100% more for them that their 3.75" counterparts. Fine. The 6" line has been active since 2013, and after a very slow start, it has picked up momentum briskly to the point that it has a significant following. That's wonderful too. We're all for that, but just not at the expense of the classic scale. Interestingly, pretty much every figure can be found anywhere from as low as $9 to $15 EASILY (and often for less). There are exceptions of course, but the point is that many of the figures, after their initial availability, can be found way below the MSRP.

So, answer this question please: would super-articulated 3.75" collectors have supported a line that maybe had an MSRP somewhere between $14.99 and $15.99 (maybe even up to $17.99/$19.99) provided EVERY LAST sculpt was brand new (just like the 6" line is and where repacks and repaints are only found in exclusive releases) and knowing very well that you'd probably be able to get most of them on sale since there is so much competition out there, just like how the trends for 6" figures are? Let us know how you feel about this in our comments. To me, it seems a SA 3.75" line has about the same risk for Hasbro and retail as the 6" line.
