What Would You Pay For The Black Series 6" Figures Done Right?

Posted by Paul | September 12, 2016 at 10:49 AM ET

We're all tired of hearing how things just aren't cost effective anymore. We have a 6" line because a "more for your money" approach translated loudly and clearly with new collectors while classic collectors are seemingly willing to pay almost the same price for the classic 3.75" scale. That's another story however. But in this new era of collecting, The Black Series 6" line has taken a steep nosedive when it comes to level of quality that Hasbro is producing. The first wave of TBS6 figures in 2013 appeared to be right on the money (save for a few crinkles here and there – R2-D2 comes to mind). The sculpts were great, the plastic was solid (and not wiggly wobbly) and the paint operations, albeit far from perfect, were pretty darn good. Oh, and let's not forget the nice amount of accessories that graced these figures. We've all seen the A New Hope Princess Leia. Why it took a mob to help Hasbro realize she just wasn't ready for release is beyond us, but she is finally on the mend thank the Maker. (more....)

Too many figures however have escaped production without getting the green light from collectors and they ultimately left a whole lot to be desired. Interestingly, something we have come across on the web is making us consider something else. And it should show everyone what a little (or a lot of) paint will do. (Special thanks to Nerdist for one of these images.) We have to ask. Would you pay $5 more for your TBS6 figures to look like this along with a couple more accessories to finally get the quality that the premium "collector's line" deserves? Or is that out of the question. What will it take for you to be satisfied with the lower level of quality we're currently getting in The Black Series 6" line to date? Or do you feel that Hasbro has a responsibility to produce this level of quality at the current price point?
