A Discussion With A Disappointed Manager At Toys R Us In Times Square

Posted by Paul | September 07, 2015 at 04:54 PM ET

Something's got to be rotten in Denmark with the availability of The Force Awakens line. I sincerely hope we will NOT be experiencing Rebels 2.0 with this. We will continue to dig for information with our confidential sources to see if we can get some solid information on this, but click through to read an anonymous reader's account of his experience and follow-up questions with a manager at Toys R Us in Times Square NY. Apparently they were woefully stocked too. But the scattering Hasbro reps is what REALLY caught my attention....

Hi Paul,

Bravo on your continued expert news and views.

Just thought I'd pass along a conversation I had with a manager at the Toys R Us in Times Square.

I had joined the "fun" of Midnight Madness at the last minute-thinking I wasn't going to get much (although for the ROTS launch arrived late and got everything), but that didn't really matter, because even if I was third in line, I'd of gotten nothing, they were woefully understocked.

This morning a very helpful manager apologized again that I had such a horrid experience and let me know they have nothing being withheld as far as TFA action figures, they were expecting a healthy supply and were sent hardly any. He also stated that since they are the flagship of the chain, they were under the directive they'd get several of the waves and be THE spot to get everything first. All the Hasbro figure inventory was barely shipped to them, he said it made the event a nightmare. He's hoping a slim amount may arrive late Wednesday, but if he had to bet on it, he'd bet against it being anything meaningful.

He also said the two Hasbro reps that were on hand for MM made themselves scarce after the first few people snatched up most of the basic figures!

I had found an armor up Kylo Ren, but happily gave it to a small boy who would have left empty handed if I hadn't, his father was livid since they traveled in and the poor little kid couldn't get his hoped for Falcon and "bad guys."

Just another sad nail in the momentum coffin, I've been a fan and buying these since '78, but it's clear the current team in charge at Hasbro is unworthy of such a potentially winning brand.

All the best, always,
EV
