Q and A of the Day: Day 69

Posted by Paul | July 09, 2014 at 07:48 PM ET

Welcome to our next Q and A of the Day post! This column will be published daily, weekly, monthly, or just based on how many questions I get emailed – but no more than one a day. Feel free to send in your questions and I will put them in the queue. Click through for Q and A of the Day: Day 69. Topic: MAFEX or SH Figuarts....

Q: Quick Q&A question for you that was triggered for me while I listened to the latest SWAN last night. Would love to hear your analysis of MAFEX vs. SH Figuarts. Taking into account quality, price, etc., will one line of 6" Star Wars figures preferable to the other? If I were to dip my toe into the 6" line, should I choose one or the other? Or will they be similarly-scaled enough that I could mix and match (along with the Black Series)? (I guess what I may prospectively be asking is for JTA start doing an analysis of which version of a 6" character is the best and most definitive, similar to your excellent annual reports for the 3.75" scale.) Thanks! (RumSleg)

A: I am seeking these answers myself and I am reluctant to give any of my opinions until I see and feel these puppies in hand. They will definitely be part of the RDRs, so you will be sure to see my full analysis here on JTA. So while this is cliche, please stay tuned and keep it here. No matter what you decide about the higher end lines (MAFEX and SH Figuarts), it's hard to lump Hasbro's The Black Series 6" line into this mix. They are meant for two totally different audiences. Because the 6" line is in it's infancy, we probably won't be creating any definitive analysis report on the 6" line until it reaches a couple hundred figures (if it lasts that long). Sorry.
