Look out Texas! Five Below is coming in fast and furious and new stores are getting awesome 2012 Star Wars [The Phantom Menace 3D] product as well as even cooloer The Vintage Collection figures! JTA staffer flamingtoilet made the road trip to his all-new Five Below and found some incredible goodies. (And just look at that gorgeous Texan sky!) Click through for the report and see if there are any new stores coming your way soon!

Well, the official opening for Five Below in DFW is tomorrow, but it looks like they’ve gotten started with a soft open today, at least at the Denton, TX store. I felt like a kid at Christmas, of course. I’ve heard so many wonderful things about this place and I couldn’t wait to see it for myself!

Upon entering, the first thing I did was check the legendary wheelbarrows o’ stuff at the front of the store... only to be disappointed. Primarily girls’ toys and local sportsball team-related items. Undaunted, I scanned the store, and there in front of me, at the far end of the store, was the holy grail. The very thing which I had sought. The action figure section. I can neither confirm or deny that there was a choir of angels singing when I saw it.

Dodging employees who were just trying to be helpful, I made my way to the action figures. Transformers... Avengers... STAR WARS! My heart sank as the first figures I saw on the pegs were TVC Battle Droid and Qui-Gon, truly the bane of a collectors’ existence at this point. But I refused to give up and began scouring deep into the pegs... lo and behold. THE MALGUS WAVE. Including an actual Darth Malgus!

Feverishly, I grabbed all the figures I still needed from that wave- Malgus, Hoth Luke, and the (sadly only) Imperial Navy Commander, as well as a Darth Sidious since I somehow missed him and he’s been one of the few TPM figures who’s been impossible to find since the first couple of releases. Their other figures were Clone Wars, so on a whim, I decided to dig through the pegs there as well, sure enough, hidden behind yet more Anakins and Mace Windus, were Captain Rex and Commander Fox. Needless to say, I grabbed them.

The rest of the pegs were sadly bare of anything new, so after taking a couple of pictures, I all but ran to the counter with my booty, and walked out with 6 brand new wonderful TVC figures. Since I’m far from home at the moment, the pictures were taken in the front passenger seat of my car. But there they are. In all their glory. So beautiful.

Truly, it was a post-Rosh Hashanah miracle!

Love,
FT
