The Kit Fisto (VC29) Variation That Never Was....

Posted by Paul | April 22, 2013 at 06:36 PM ET

I am a proud fan of Kit Fisto. He is unequivocally my favorite Prequel Trilogy character. And if you've been reading with any regularity here at JTA, you know that I personally have hounded Hasbro about the packaging to the gorgeous The Vintage Collection figure (VC29). It's action figure perfection! But its packaging is not perfection as Hasbro accidentally sourced this figure to Attack Of The Clones (gasp!). (This particular figure is based on his appearance in Revenge Of The Sith instead.) It always bugged me that collectors went ape-crazy over calling the VC13 figure as "Anakin Skywalker" because he was really dubbed "Darth Vader" at that point in the film (and Hasbro catered to those whiners), but a huge glaring error like the Kit Fisto one was barely criticized by fans and pleading to Hasbro to correct it went unheard. Or did it? I wasn't silent. In fact, I even asked Hasbro during a late Q&A session the following: (read more....)

JTA: Kit Fisto from the Attack Of The Clones wave in The Vintage Collection is one of the greatest action figures you have ever made for the basic figure line. Despite its flawless execution, you somehow erroneously put him on an Attack Of The Clone card back. The figure you created was based on his likeness in Revenge Of The Sith and NOT Attack Of The Clones, an error that many other licensees have a difficult time getting right too. Will Kit Fisto ever see correction like you have already done with some of the figure like the Darth Vader/Anakin Skywalker and Luke Skywalker (Endor Capture) figure?

Hasbro: Good catch!  Yes, we noticed this error and corrected it during production as a running change.

Editor's Note: This has got to be a mistake, right? Or is Kit Fisto being carried forward into 2012 with the new card back?

(See this article HERE.)

I even followed this Q&A with an updated article a few days later. I wrote:

If you've read our most recent Hasbro Q&A, you learned that Hasbro is claiming that they put in a running change for the Attack Of The Clones wave Kit Fisto figure for him to show up on a Revenge Of The Sith card. Being that there are no signs this has ever come to pass, we want to know if you feel that Hasbro is mistaken, or does this mean that Hasbro has selected him for a 2012 carry-forward figure with n ew card back artwork? Click through and post your comments! (See this article HERE.)

WE NOW HAVE THE ANSWER!

I was going through my The Vintage Collection card backs – the ones that no longer house the action figures. To my UTTER SHOCK and SURPRISE, I found an updated card back for Kit Fisto. It looks like there were indeed plans to update the Kit Fisto card back. Oh man. How this desperately makes me want this updated card back change even more! Let us know what you think!
