More Canadian Wave 16 Reports!

Posted by Paul | December 02, 2012 at 07:45 PM ET

The reports from Canada keep coming in! You saw the report here first at JTA, now JTA reader Jamie writes in with more unbelievable finds and things that just punch the gut of American collectors! He lives in Ottawa, Ontario and these figures were found at the Walmart at Maitland & Baseline. Click through for Jamie's unbelievable report!

Hi there, I'm not sure if you had this confirmed yet, but wave 16 of TVC is definitely available at Walmart in Canada. I've known it for a few weeks now - but it's my wife that's picked up a few figs for me to go under the Xmas tree so I don't know what she's gotten yet :) but I managed to pick up a few the other day (don't tell my wife! :) ) and the shocker is that I was able to get them unpunched! Asoka and Aurra were sitting on the shelves because the pegs were too clogged with other figs (kind of a nice problem) and I guess the associate that stocked them just dropped the extras with the vehicles. The Royal Guard I got because I saw a skid of toy boxes waiting to be shelved, and lo and behold, there was a wave 16 case there - opened but full. The receipt doesn't list individual figure names, but the numbers correspond to the bar codes on the cards (which I can provide photos of if you need more proof).

I feel badly for a few reasons: one, I ordered a case already (another Xmas gift waiting for me) because I, like everyone else, was assured they would never see retail (FWIW I have also seen these figs at comic shops here, but that's not a big surprise). I also feel bad because you American collectors are getting hosed: Walmart currently has TVC figs on sale for $6.47! Which is what I paid for the Wave 16 figures... but for some reason the Stormtrooper scanned in at $5.00. There were also a few other randoms that I wouldn't have expected to see, included Yoda on a ROTJ card (I already have one but may shoot back to pick it up). Unfortunately, even at $6.47 I couldn't justify re-buying the entire wave 16 case but am now re-thinking that.

Anyhow hope this helps (and doesn't hurt too much :P )

Thanks and keep up the great work!

-j
