Research Droids Reviews: October 24, 2012 – November 6, 2012

Commander Ganch (612th Attack Battalion) - Militaries Of Star Wars - 1:6 Scale Figures
Man, there are certainly some choices for exclusives that are major head-scratchers, aren’t there? Commander Ganch (612th Attack Battalion) (CC-4572)probably tops them all as one of the most obscure choices Sideshow Collectibles could have ever picked to release in their 1:6 Scale Figures line, a line that they have blatantly been amortizing since its inception with the armored figures specifically.... Tusken Raider - Scum & Villainy - 1:6 Scale Figures
Whether you’re a collector of the 1:6 Scale Figures line or not, sometimes all collectors need a reality check from Sideshow Collectibles to put in perspective what we’re not getting from Hasbro. Take for instance their awesome Tusken Raider (Sand People) from their rarely attended Scum & Villainy line.... (read the full review)

Commander Neyo (91st Reconnaissance Corps) - Militaries Of Star Wars - 1:6 Scale Figures
The high-end collectibles in the awesome 1:6 Scale Figures line don’t arrive everyday. In fact, we’re lucky to receive a dozen of them in any calendar year. While they are few and far between, it can definitely be said that Sideshow Collectibles has gone crazy with the armored characters in the Militaries Of Star Wars line. We all understand the concept of amortizing costs, but we think that’s been taken to the limit because we now have more clones than we probably ever expected to own in a single collection.... Airborne Trooper - Mini Busts
Does anyone else find it odd when Gentle Giant makes some of the most desired Prequel Trilogy characters in their Mini Busts line as exclusives? Fans have been waiting since 2005 for an Airborne Trooper Mini Bust and Gentle Giant Ltd. has deemed it fit to release it exclusively to StarWarsShop.com.... (read the full review)

Luke Skywalker Jedi Knight - Ultimate Quarter Scale
We’re huge supporters of the figures in the the Ultimate Quarter Scale line, but we have to admit that some of the released are really getting frustrating. One thing that Diamond Select Toys has mastered in this scale is the multi-layered outfits that adorn their standard “talking” buck that was developed for this lineup. We’ll give them that. While it’s not perfect, it serves the purpose.... (read the full review)

Emperor Palpatine - Ultimate Quarter Scale
With all of the Star Wars collectibles released to date, patterns have consistently shown that it’s easier to develop an better and more accurate likeness of a Star Wars character when it doesn’t have a human face. There are obviously exceptions to rules, but usually an alien or helmeted character typically ends up looking a whole lot better than those whose faces are not covered up or by nature alien.... Clone Trooper Officer [Captain] - TAC - Saga Legends
The 30 (77-07) Saga Legends was unprecedented. It was always meant to be a line to get out core characters to the market so that they would “always be available” and so Hasbro didn’t have to “waste” space in a new basic figure lineup for them. It also was a line that was collector-friendly where Hasbro actually polled real Star Wars collectors to ask them what favorites (or harder to find) figures they’d like to see get out to retail again.... Clone Trooper Officer [Commander] - TAC - Saga Legends
One of the things we were most excited about getting in the 2007 TAC Saga Legends line was the chance to army build so many core troopers from the Star Wars saga. Clone troopers and sandtroopers pretty much stole the show in this line because Hasbro released so many variations of them. One particular clone style however elated collectors very much.... Clone Trooper Officer [Sergeant] - TAC - Saga Legends
If you could designate any of the clones from Episode II as getting the shaft the most, it would undoubtedly be the Clone Trooper Officer [Sergeant]. He was always last on Hasbro’s agenda to make into 3.75” scale. And let’s face it, were it not for the Entertainment Earth Clone Trooper 4-Packs, we might as well still be waiting for a super-articulated version even today.... (read the full review)

Clone Trooper Officer [Lieutenant] - TAC - Saga Legends
When we think of the Clone Trooper Officer [Lieutenant], we think of exclusivity. You may need both hands to count all of the exclusive products made based on this clone trooper. The Gentle Giant Ltd. Clone Trooper Lieutenant Mini Bust, the Clone Trooper Lieutenant Classics Bust and the Walmart exclusive figure two-packs (the first time an articulated Clone Trooper Lieutenant was released) are just a few of the items that have been released in non-general release fashion.... (read the full review)

Imperial Storm Commando - Mini Busts
Gentle Giant Ltd. has been hit or miss with their Premier Guild exclusive Mini Busts. Some are jaw-dropping like Clone Captain Rex or the Darth Maul [2011 PGM Exclusive]. The intricate detail in both the paint job and sculpts make them very worthwhile collectibles.... (read the full review)

Grand Moff Tarkin - Premium Format Figures
Man, oh man. You already know that Sideshow Collectibles is notorious for bringing Star Wars collectors consistently quality products. So it seems to take more and more to impress us nowadays. Would you believe that they have successfully done so again? The Grand Moff Tarkin Premium Format Figure is quite a wonder to behold.... (read the full review)

Republic Attack Dropship With Clone Pilot - SW [TPM 3D] - Deluxe
Oh what a year 2012 has been! It brought us some of the greatest products yet from Hasbro, and also made them nearly impossible to find. But the reason they were hard to find however had a lot to do with the garbage that Hasbro recycled before getting out all-new product. As a result, gems like the Republic Attack Dropship With Clone Pilot are all but a myth as far as collectors are concerned.... (read the full review)

Tedn Dahai - Mini Busts
Is it really going to come down to reviewing every member of the Modal Nodes as Mini Busts, 1:6 Scale Figures and other collectible formats? Yikes, it’s going to be impossible to write about seven Bith musicians from the same band and try to present a different perspective on each one! Tedn Dahai is the backup fanfar player in Figrin D’an and the Modal Nodes.... (read the full review)
