While the greatest of the Jedi were wise and keen of mind, in the days of the Clone Wars, it is the fighting strength of the Order that is most often called upon to defend the Republic. In the many sieges and battles that are being waged across the Galaxy, individual Jedi distinguish themselves as warriors and generals, leading their clone troops into battle tirelessly and without fear. Among these great Knights of the Republic is Kit Fisto, an amphibious Nautolan from Glee Anselm.
Fisto is a master of Form 1 lightsaber technique, the style of fighting that is taught to all Jedi initiates as the basis of their saber training, but perfected by only a handful of masters. Kit's skill with a blade is matched by his sharp senses. As a Nautolan, the Jedi Knight was born with an array of twitching head tentacles that are naturally sensitive to faint odours, such as the subtle pheromones given off by all living things. Augmented by his Jedi training, Fisto's chemical sensitivity is acute enough to pick up on the minute changes brought on by mood change in other beings. It is an edge that has granted him an uncanny ability to read the intentions of adversaries and foes, either across a negotiating table, or in the heat of battle. Underwater, a Nautolan's natural habitat, this sense is even more acute.
Knowing of Kit Fisto's aquatic strengths, the Jedi Order sends him to the pelagic world of Mon Calamari to prevent the Quarren Isolation League from tearing the planet out of the Republic. Fisto leads a combined Mon Calamari and aquatic Clone Trooper force to victory, cementing his reputation as one of the most formidable Jedi Knights of the Clone Wars.
It’s true what they say about assuming. You just shouldn’t do it. And Sideshow Collectibles 1:6 Scale Figure collectors quickly learned early in the line that we shouldn’t have assumed that we’d be getting one human Jedi after another in their Order Of The Jedi sub collection of figures. Thank goodness we were way off base. The fourth announced (and third released) Jedi was going to be the awesome Nautoloan Kit Fisto (Jed Master) 1:6 Scale Figure. Let us just say that while the figure has a few issues, it will absolutely remain one of the finest portraits Sideshow Collectibles has ever produced. Kit Fisto (Jedi Master) is based on his Star Wars Episode III: Revenge Of The Sith appearance, but the design team at Sideshow Collectibles got one detail confused. The exclusive accessory, the defeated battle droid – severed head, is not accurate for Kit’s Episode III appearance. As everyone knows at this point, Kit Fisto’s appearance went through a metamorphosis between Episode II and Episode III. He actually looks like two different characters. Sideshow Collectibles seems to have seamlessly blended the two films via their 1:6 Scale Figure version of him. While we love this Kit Fisto (Jedi Master) 1:6 Scale Figure, some of the finer details aren’t entirely accurate. The red/maroon battle droids are only from Episode II (as well as other Expanded Universe sources), so to have it as part of the Episode III version of Kit Fisto is not entirely correct. That being said, the severed battle droid head is one of the best accessories Sideshow Collectible has made as well. Cast from real metal, it’s cast completely accurately to the droids seen on Geonosis and its paint job is out of this world.
Kit Fisto is not too shabby either. Actually, it’s hard to look past the head sculpt because it is the best part of this 1:6 Scale Figure, but Sideshow Collectibles crafted a marvelous product here and it really helps us keep the faith that Sideshow is really going to be able to do some incredible things in this scale. Kit Fisto has been give a tunic and shirt that almost has a crepe wool texture to it. It is pinkish/mauve in color and nicely matches his brown paints. His real leather belt contain many items including opening pouches, food rations vials and a hook for the included lightsaber hilt accessory. His boots are simple yet awesome and his outer Jedi robe brings everything together without looking like it overshadows Fisto’s silhouette. Everything is fitted and in place and the attention to detail Sideshow Collectibles as applied here is nothing short of extraordinary. His well detailed hands don’t really hold the lightsaber accessories that well, but with careful placement you can make them stick without issue. His open “Force push” hand is great to have been included here, but keep in mind that Sideshow Collectibles was inspired to include this attachment here based on the scene of Kit Fisto performing this move in Episode II and not Episode III. So again, it’s a small detail that just isn’t screen accurate to Episode III. Clearly it was Sideshow Collectibles intentions to kill multiple birds with one stone. While that works for 1:6 Scale Figures like Mace Windu (Jedi Master), it really can’t be applied to a character like Kit Fisto (Jedi Master) who looks different from one Star Wars episode to the next.
