While the oppression of the cruel Empire hangs like a dark shroud over the galaxy, the few remaining Jedi have gone into hiding to protect their knowledge and ways. Hidden deep in the mysterious and perilous jungles of Dagobah is the simple clay hut of Jedi Master Yoda who has chosen this exile to wait in hopes that the Jedi will one day defeat the Empire.

It is here that Yoda reveals his true identity to Luke Skywalker after deliberately provoking Luke, testing him for signs of that he has inherited his father's deep flaws. Yoda begrudgingly agrees to train Luke in the ways of the Force, and the two spend many hours training together in Yoda's tiny home with Luke hunched over under the short roof to glean what knowledge he can from the great Jedi Master as his mentor.

Is Sideshow cleverly cashing in by making awesome “playsets” for collectors when Hasbro will not? The last time Star Wars fans ever got a Dagobah playset was in the 80s during the vintage line. Now 30+ years after the fact, Sideshow Collectibles essentially creates a masterpiece called Yoda’s Hut (Dagobah) for their very impressive 1:6 Scale Figure Environment line and surpasses all expectations of Yoda's home in 1:6 Scale Figure scale. This thing is huge and is big enough to house both their Luke Skywalker (Rebel Commander: Bespin) and Yoda (Jedi Mentor) one-sixth scale figures. The hut isn’t completely authentic to the prop we saw in Episode V, but Sideshow amazingly took the most important cross-sections of Yoda’s home and applied it to this high end collectible. We are treated to about a three-quarters cut of the hut and minus [at least] one room (just by judging the stills in the film – we really don’t get the best look at the complete layout of this dwelling watching the movie). So, the last “missing” one-quarter section serves as the cut-away and serves as access to the inside so you can place the accessories and figures with relative ease. (We find the center “beam” a little bit obtrusive and it’s hard to fit things behind it, but overall there really is very little to complain about here. (Honestly, did any of us ever think a 1:6 Scale Figure Environment of Yoda’s Hut would ever become a reality? Not us!)

It’s overall an awesome design, but our favorite part of this environment are the intricately engineered electronics. Yoda’s grill/stove is removable and plugs into the wall of the hut just like a real electric appliance would. Run by a batter pack (batteries included), the power also lights up two "track" lights in the high curvature of the hut’s ceiling. They cast bright yellow lighting and look completely amazing in “night” shots. What’s more, the grill has plastic flames that flicker and look incredibly realistic. (We may have preferred if Sideshow didn't included protruding plastic flames and just had the grill come with a lighting effect instead, but we digress.) These fine details add so much to this piece and actually were unexpected because not too many of us realized it came with this feature until it was taken out of the shipping box. We figured something would light up in this collectible, but not to this enthralling degree. The interior is very clean, but the stucco-like pattern of the walls give it a worn look and we even see stress lines in the paint. And the floor of the hut was another nice surprise. It’s lined with asymmetric slate multicolored tiles. Sideshow Collectibles did a phenomenal job on giving this piece a “real-world” look, despite it looking a little too clean for the rainy and muddy terrain of Dagobah. Where the dirtiness lacks inside is more than made up for on the outside. The outside of the hut has an amazing paint job and looks completely "filthy" as it should. Sideshow’s artists did a brilliant job making this look just like what we saw in Episode V. And it proves once again how important a great paint job is indeed.

If you love accessories, Yoda’s Hut (Dagobah) is absolutely for you. You get a plethora of accessories ranging from cookware to various vittles. At times, the many pieces are a bit overwhelming, but this is a child's (and collector's) play dream. Oh, and you get that awesome pot that hangs about his grill (but the hook is too low and it sits on top of the plastic protruding flames a little bit. And the cooking pot isn't orange (miraculously)! (Sorry if you don’t get that younglings! That’s before your time probably.) Sideshow Collectibles also ensured that the two snakes that came with the Yoda (Jedi Mentor) 1:6 Scale Figure had company as you get another five snakes with the environment. Interestingly, these snakes have better paint jobs than the snakes that came with Yoda (but they also do not come with interior bendable wiring for posing). These are permanently posed accessories. This 1:6 Scale Figure Environment is truly a dream come true for Yoda fans. It may be "never" before Hasbro makes one and even if they did, the level of detail would pale in comparison to Sideshow’s wondrous works. (It still would be nice to get one for the 3.75" scale line.) This is definitely an exciting piece and Sideshow has already bragged that even bigger and better things will be coming down the pike for the 1:6 Scale Figure line. We can’t wait to see what they have up their sleeves. One other small finishing detail we love is the bottom of the hut. In true Sideshow Collectibles fashion, the plate is multicolored and is the perfect touch to this high end collectible. If you have the extra funds to blow on this piece, this is one of Sideshow’s best environments to date. It comes highly recommended.
