Another Sequel Trilogy film, another First Order Stormtrooper that won’t be utilized to its fullest. To date, every Sequel Trilogy Star Wars film features a specialized First Order Stormtrooper that gets severely underutilized despite the hype Disney creates around it. It happened in The Force Awakens with the First Order Snowtroopers. It happened in The Last Jedi with the First Order Stormtrooper Executioners. So, are the Sith Troopers the next “big deal” that will fall flat once the film is released? Or is there so much secrecy around these characters and what their roles will be that Disney opted for no bio on the figure’s packaging? Well, we don’t know. All we can do is judge the action figure for what it is until the film is released on December 20, 2019. The Rise Of Skywalker promises surprises, resolution, and hopefully a return of a collected and bound-together Star Wars community. Because right now, the fandom is in a state of disarray. And there doesn’t seem to be enough happening to resolve the issue. We hope the opposite is in motion. There is a significant level of secrecy once again. It feels like Episode VII all over again. But we do know a couple of character, one of which is the Sith Trooper.

The Sith Trooper doesn’t make any sense to us as a character. Members of the Galactic Empire and First Order don’t have allegiance to a faith. They have allegiance to a cause or an ideology. That’s why they fight. Why are the two diametric opposites getting blended together This isn’t a criticism directed at Disney Star Wars. No, Sith Troopers were first introduced in The Old Republic video game. Their bio is a bit unclear, but it appears they too subscribed to a faith. So, is it possible in The Rise Of Skywalker that the Sith Troopers are also influenced by the Sith belief system, or are they simply there to protect the Sith? Either way, the Sith Trooper isn’t much more than a newly colored First Order Stormtrooper with a lot of extra gear. Hasbro tooled an all-new figure because they wear revised armor. You’ll find parallel scoring lines throughout the armor, and you’ll also find different features that make it different from a basic First Order Stormtrooper. Bright, glaring, and very, very red, the Sith Trooper feels like it will grab only about half of The Black Series 6” collectors as a must-have exclusive. They may wait for the general release version. The Sith Trooper has some charm, but it feels like a Crimson Stormtrooper, and not much more.

The Rise Of Skywalker releases in theaters December 20, 2019. We didn’t see the Sith Trooper revealed until July 10, 2019. That’s cutting things close, no? But once revealed, many collectors didn’t know what to make of the new character. It seems different, but then it doesn’t feel different. And all of the extra gear makes it feel like a red version of the First Order Stormtrooper [Ultimate Trooper Pack] we received as an Amazon exclusive. There are some highlights of the Sith Trooper. The figure has excellent and fluid movement. The joints move like “butter.” The color of red plastic they used is strikingly bright and catches your eye. The black paint used to detail the armor and highlight some of the features is cleanly applied. And the accessories interact wonderfully with the figure. The Sith Trooper holds them well, and there is enough movement in the figures joints to accommodate them well. The packaging is very nice. But all of Hasbro’s 6” exclusive figures have excellent packaging. Two side panels slide out and reveal all of the accessories that come with this figure. We don’t know. It’s a decent action figure, but it also feels like more of the same. There’s not too much anticipatory about this action figure. But that’s generally true of anything Sequel Trilogy related.
