Jedi Master Plo Koon leads a battalion of clone troopers against Separatist forces during the Clone Wars. He pilots his Jedi starfighter into battle with skill and courage. Accompanied by clone fighter pilots, Plo Koon targets deadly droid tri-fighters that are attacking Republic forces.

Hasbro is making the most out of 2002’s SW [S - P1] Obi-Wan Kenobi’s Jedi Starfighter vehicle. Admittedly, this mold of this Jedi Starfighter is versatile enough to be applied to all of the Jedi that fly this model. And now that we’re in Revenge Of The Sith territory, Hasbro is looking for ways to utilize the sculpt again, and they found it in Plo Koon’s Jedi Starfighter. Briefly seen (for only moments) during the enacting of Order 66, Plo Koon flew his Jedi starfighter through the skies of Cato Neimoidia and trailed by a couple of ARC-170 fighters behind him. Once Darth Sidious confirms that Order 66 is live, the clones that were once Plo Koon’s allies instantly become his enemy and shoot him out of the sky. For fans of this powerful Jedi Master, it was a bitter pill to swallow. And some fans still aren’t over it. Using the mold of the 2002 vehicle release, Hasbro reworked the tooling to make Plo Koon’s Jedi Starfighter, and it interestingly mimics the deco and coloring that we saw on 2003’s Clone Wars Anakin Skywalker’s Jedi Starfighter. Plo Koon's Jedi Starfighter is a sleek and streamlined vehicle. And for those that do not know, the permanent astromech featured in the droid socket is R4-F5. We have another droid to keep track of now.

Hasbro based Plo Koon's Jedi Starfighter on 2002’s SW [S - P1] Obi-Wan Kenobi’s Jedi Starfighter. A quite compact vehicle, Hasbro utilized the quality tooled vehicle multiple times so far in the line, and we expect many more to come in the future. The vehicle itself has a very nice design, even if the droid socket is physically impossible. It has some fundamental play features in addition to an astromech droid dome in bright blue that is permanently affixed to the vehicle’s body. (We’d love to know where the rest of the astromech droid is). The vehicle comes with landing gear, snap off panels and firing projectiles. All of the basic stuff is here to make any kid’s or collector’s day very enjoyable. The color of Plo Koon's Jedi Starfighter is striking. The zebra-like patterns on the top and bottom of the vehicle are gorgeous. This vehicle is faithful to the vehicle we saw in Episode III. But it appears that collectors are losing interest in Jedi starfighters, and they’re beginning to overlook them on store shelves. It’s a niche type of vehicle. While Plo Koon's Jedi Starfighter is a very nice release with beautiful deco and fun play features, 2005’s ROTS Plo Koon (III 16) figure doesn’t fit inside of the cockpit at all.

There is quite a bit of drama surrounding Plo Koon's Jedi Starfighter release. It was originally intended to become part of the mid-size vehicle assortment, but poor distribution and lower-than-expected sales of the vehicles line prevented later case assortments from getting out to stores. Aside from a couple of online retailers, very few Plo Koon's Jedi Starfighter vehicles made it out to collectors. Hasbro still wanted the vehicle to have a wider availability to collectors and fans, so they offered Plo Koon's Jedi Starfighter to Toys R Us. But Toys R Us asked for a Plo Koon pack-in action figure to come along with the vehicle. They wanted it this way because Toys R Us was determined to keep the theme of their previous exclusives alive and strong. And if you’re not sure what that is, their previous exclusives of Jedi starfighters always came with a pilot. Hasbro was unable to meet their request, so they solicited Plo Koon's Jedi Starfighter to TARGET. And that became the final home for the vehicle. Sadly, Plo Koon's Jedi Starfighter was one of the worst selling exclusives TARGET ever picked up. And the confusion that many collectors experienced from not realizing it got promoted to a retailer exclusive made this more convoluted than needed.
