4-LOM

Detailed Visual Analysis

4-LOM

General Analysis

His proper name is Zuckuss, but that won’t prevent those who grew up with the original vintage Kenner line from calling him 4-LOM. 4-LOM was the very last Star Wars figure produced for THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK line. 4-LOM is the only 48-Back figure Kenner produced in 1982, and he was a late release. 4-LOM was also a mail-away figure, and that is how I attained mine as a young child. I remember the day he arrived in my mailbox. I was overwhelmed by his chunky lined cost and the backpack that kept it firmly encompassed on his body. I will also never forget noticing how different his weapon was from all previous Kenner action figures. I loved 4-LOM then, and I still love him today. The basis of the name mix-up is quite an urban legend and has permeated Star Wars collecting as long as it’s been around. Interestingly, modern versions of Zuckuss have followed in the footsteps of the original vintage Kenner 4-LOM figure. Always a Tail-End Charlie it seems, Zuckuss if often the last (or almost the last) character produced in any Hasbro Star Wars line. It was great to complete all six bounty hunters in THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK line finally, and I am so thankful that Kenner made a great 4-LOM action figures from the start. And I say that while considering that his coloring is drastically off when compared to the onscreen character.
