It’s becoming habitual at this point. At each new line look launch, Hasbro has cobbled together a collection of six 12-Inch Figures which serves as a holiday gift type of release. Some of these sets have turned out well, and others are just so-so, but one thing is true across all of them. And that is these six-packs are directly related to the new Star Wars Entertainment at hand and provide a cast of characters that fit in beautifully into the line. The Finn (Jakku)/Chewbacca/Poe Dameron/Kylo Ren/First Order Stormtrooper Officer/First Order TIE Fighter Pilot 12-Inch Figures set contains enough newness to interest those who are collecting this line with single figures. For example, the First Order TIE Fighter Pilot was released in a future wave that wasn’t out when this multipack was released. The same can be said of Chewbacca. And Poe Dameron is completely exclusive to this release and won’t be re-released as a single figure. All figures that are repacks have different paint operations than their single releases as too. Essentially, you’re getting a whole lot of newness here, wanted or unwanted, and some of the character choices are redundant. What’s shocking is the missing character here: Rey.

Finn (Jakku) has an OK likeness, but we think Hasbro could have done better with him. He comes with a Resistance blaster. He isn’t able to hold it that well, but it is possible with a little perseverance. The limited articulation makes posing him almost pointless, but the larger size is sure to help those new younger fans hold onto the figures better. They’ll surely find purpose in the 12-Inch Figures line. Chewbacca may be our most favorite figure in this set. He comes partially unassembled. His lower legs have to be snapped into place. His bowcaster also breaks down into two separate pieces. Chewbacca has a decent likeness and the coloring looks pretty good. Thanks to the extra height provided by his lower legs, Chewbacca is in perfect. scale with the rest of the figures in this set. It would have been more preferable if Hasbro included a “old man” Han Solo in this set instead of one of the First Order characters, but that’s how this exclusive was approached. Poe Dameron is the all-new “exclusive” release in this set. The figure is below average in quality. He comes with an extra large “banana visor” which accentuates how badly this technique is. He comes with a blaster pistol and a functioning holster.

Kylo Ren is another new figure in this set and differs dramatically from his basic 12-Inch Figure release. Instead of coming with a hood, this version of him just has the helmet (without hood). It’s clear that the rest of the figure borrows many parts from the basic 12-Inch Figure version, but there is a ton of uniqueness too. It might be easiest to say that this version of Kylo Ren is an all-new figure in this set too. Your opinions on this may vary, but the head and torso and most of the extremities are new or newish. The First Order Stormtrooper Officer is the biggest disappointment in the set. We barely see the characters wearing orange pauldrons in the film. They are there, but they're not prominent, and surely don’t deserve a place in this set over Rey or General Leia. It’s is the First Order Stormtrooper 12-Inch Figure with a new pauldron. When released, the First Order TIE Fighter Pilot was an all-new figure, but it has since been repacked in the 12-Inch Figure line as a single figure too. He comes with a glaringly incorrect white First Order blaster. The basic figure corrected that problem. This set has an MSRP of $49.99 and is a lot of money for what it is. We wonder how many more of these Hasbro will make in the future.
