As the Rebels attempt to flee the Death Star, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Darth Vader square off in a final confrontation. As a diversionary tactic to help the others escape, Obi-Wan sacrifices himself to Vader and becomes one with the Force.

One of the most revered figures from 2000 was Power Of The Jedi’s Ben (Obi-Wan) Kenobi (Jedi Knight). It has a likeness similar to The Power Of The Force “2” versions of the past, but the silhouette of his body and the removable of his outer robes was a treat for collectors looking to get every iteration of this character in action figure form. The figure also had some setbacks, like wearing Anakin’s lightsaber hilt on his belt (while we didn’t get a hilt of his lightsaber)! But the figure shined more than it didn’t and provided collectors with a great interpretation of this fan-favorite character. And it swiftly became Hasbro’s “go to” figure whenever they needed to release a version of an Episode IV Obi-Wan Kenobi ever since. Now it is part of the Collectible Figure And Cup collection from TARGET, and a subset of the Star Wars “Saga” [Phase III] line look. The figures are all old and rehashed, but the cups inside of these gift sets are reminiscent of those exclusive Burger King glasses from ages ago. This time, however, they're manufactured in plastic instead of glass for safety reasons, but the same approach and size has been faithfully recreated. These will go over well with Star Wars fans.

Obi-Wan Kenobi brought to collectors a better sculpt and introduced collectors to a screen-accurate outfit we hadn’t seen before in the basic figure line. Without his legendary cloak, this is how Obi-Wan Kenobi appeared while chatting with Luke Skywalker in his humble abode on Tatooine (as well as a few other places in the film). Still, some may still feel slighted by the severe lack of articulation given to this action figure. Seemingly using the “blueprints” of the 1995 POTF2 Ben (Obi-Wan) Kenobi figure’s head, this all-new figure takes a bold leap forward to reduce the steroid-like proportions that made the original 1995 figures suffer. This new approach to screen accuracy has come very close to the mark of what collectors expect from Hasbro. Obi-Wan Kenobi isn’t perfect by any means, but he will instantly become the staple “go to” figure as the enhancements are extremely notable. What’s “great” for this version is that Hasbro removed Anakin’s lightsaber hilt from the mix, but they didn’t alternately include his lightsaber hilt. It was the perfect opportunity to include something new here!

While exciting at the time of his original release, Obi-Wan Kenobi is beginning to grow tired now. The lean that has always haunted this figure feels more pronounced and because of the molded robes, correcting it is nearly impossible. As you know, when you turn Obi-Wan Kenobi around, he leans dramatically to the right. It’s the strangest thing. Although he has swivel hips, the robes make it impossible to situate his legs in a way that may counteract the bizarre balance. As a result, this is geared towards collectors and not necessarily kids. The star of this gift set is the collectible cup. It features the Star Wars logo in a red box and has beautiful dioramic scenes throughout the film embossed on it. The artwork on the glass is beautiful, and it is without question the strongest selling point of this gimmicky exclusive line. From his encounter finding Luke Skywalker and C-3PO on Tatooine to his final duel with Darth Vader on the Death Star, all key scenes are represented here to summarize Obi-Wan’s adventures from this classic Star Wars film. We find this set appealing. Hopefully, you will as well.
