With all of the competing Star Wars licensees out there, no doubt should exist that in order to be in the lead you need to produce stuff that will interest those with money to support you. Disney Stores by far have taken lead on producing kid-focused products that are not only well made, well painted and bunches of fun to play with, there awesome line of Talking Star Wars Figures have grabbed collectors by storm because there actually cool enough for them to consider for their collection as well. We’re quite willing to conceded ourselves that the Talking Star Wars line is indeed the premier kids’ Star Wars line and the products already produced for the line make us hope that even more character are up next for this format. Imagine C-3PO, Greedo, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Princess Leia Organa. The options are nearly endless. But if Disney is willing to produce four to six of these beautiful figures per year, they will wonderfully complement what’s already out there to buy. And we really hope to see it continue.

Talking Chewbacca may be the one small setback out of all the offerings released in 2014. We don’t mean to come down hard on this figure right out of the gate, but he definitely lacks (just a little bit) when compared to the others in the line. Disney did some major things right with Talking Chewbacca however. He is gigantic. Although not 100% correctly scaled, he looks great in the line up next to the other figures. He is significantly taller than the Han Solo and substantially taller than Luke Skywalker. We believe this to be a complete oversight, but Disney has based this version of Chewbacca on his appearance in Star Wars Episode VI: Return Of The Jedi. This is easily seen thank to the way his hair breaks on the top of his head. In A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back, Chewbacca pretty dons a slicked back hairline. Here, the hair is curling off the left and right, just as it did in Return Of The Jedi. While this may not be a big deal for most, it’s not something that kids will probably notice or care about, you technically can’t display this Talking Chewbacca with the Talking Han Solo is you’re going for complete screen accuracy.

“Talking” Chewbacca may bit a bit of a misnomer as well. After all, Chewbacca just really grunts and groans in animal sounds. You’re not going to really get any “lines” from the movie with this figure. But again, we don’t think that this is something many kids will care about because Chewbacca is so loveable as is. As with all Talking Star Wars Figures, Chewbacca also comes with a button to ignite the blast on his weapon. His bowcaster lights up and makes sounds when the button on his right shoulder is pressed. Because this is a figure that is meant to be played with, we love these play features. What’s more, Talking Chewbacca has a beautiful paint job. We’re thoroughly impressed with how gorgeous these figures are decorated. And even better is the suggested MSRP. For just pennies under $30 kids an collectors can have something to enjoy in so many different ways. We hope this is just the tip of the iceberg. 2014 looks to be completed for the time being, but we hope more announcements are forthcoming for 2015. Talking Chewbacca is still a great toy even though it doesn’t grip us as much as the others. We love the line as a whole, so we do embrace the Talking Chewbacca as well.
