Former Padawan of Luminara Unduli, Jedi Knight Barriss Offee leads clone troopers against the Separatist armies on the fungus planet of Felucia. The youthful Jedi has spent three years in the frontlines during the Clone Wars, but all of her battlefield experience cannot prepare her for the cataclysmic conclusion she will face on Felucia.

It seems that when a line look carries on for too long, this become utterly disorganized and messy for Hasbro. We don’t discount that some incredible toys were produced in the Star Wars “Saga” line, especially towards the end, but between the backlog of product that didn’t make it out to the enormous glut of things they tried to get out to retail in multiple line looks, Hasbro began to lose control of the various phases of the Star Wars “Saga” line. As a result many planned 12” figures never got a chance to be produced. Thankfully, some were just put on hold until a later date. As they tried to wrap things up, a new burden was born. Hasbro had to act quickly because it was announced that the Original Trilogy would be released on DVD that Fall in 2004. Scurrying to develop a quick line to complement this fantastic news, the Star Wars “Saga” line was abruptly cancelled and Hasbro began making plans for The Original Trilogy Collection line. New 12” figures were released in that line, but the Prequel Trilogy characters that were originally planned still needed to wait until a more appropriate release was available. The Original Trilogy Collection continued to give us great products, but that line was also short-lived as Hasbro began preparing for a huge undertaking: the Revenge Of The Sith line. While the Revenge Of The Sith line was developed, Hasbro was met with some trepidation over continuing their popular 12 Inch Figures sub-line. Ultimately, 2005 would be the year of the last 12 Inch Figure by Hasbro, sadly.

There was definitely a core audience who supported the line, but sales had waned over the years. Still, they released a nice selection of all-new characters based on Revenge Of The Sith, plus a few leftovers planned earlier to release in the Revenge Of The Sith line. By the time we had reached the Fall of 2005, Hasbro released what would be their final two 12 Inch Figures: Barriss Offee and Shaak Ti. Both were originally considered/planned for the Star Wars “Saga” lineup, but because of the way things went they were shelved until the Revenge Of The Sith line. Ironically, both characters don’t even appear in Revenge Of The Sith, yet they close out the 12 Inch Figures history book as sourced to Episode III. Sure, Shaak Ti appeared in some cool deleted scenes in Episode III, but Barriss Offee was nowhere to be found. Happily, Hasbro closed out the 12 Inch Figures line with a bang as these two female Jedi may be two of the nicest 12 Inch Figures Hasbro has ever produced. Barriss Offee in particular is a breath of fresh air. He costume alone is award-winning in our eyes. Between the luxuriously plush ornate outer robe to her close-fitting body glove inspired dress, Hasbro should be commended for their efforts on the Barriss Offee 12” figure from the Revenge Of The Sith line. Barriss Offee isn’t completely perfect, but she has so much going for her that you might be able to overlook her faults. Great articulation, a fantastic head sculpt, stunning deco and a brilliant costume make Barriss Offee a premier yet bittersweet 12” scaled figure. After all, this is the end of the line as we know it.

Barriss Offee also has a great head sculpt. Keeping in mind that the Hasbro 12 Inch Figures line is a kid based, and not a collectors’ based, toy line, we think they have done a remarkable job on the shape, likeness and paint job they gave to Barriss Offee. She has a permanently attached hood on her head which we imagine you can the attaching thread with scissors, but we’re not messing with it because the current arrangement allows for a realistic drape on her head. The hood looks fantastic as it and if that were to get altered, we’re afraid it won’t nearly look as good detached. There are multiple types of fabrics used to create her outfit. Her main black skirt has a rigid lined texture. Then the soft velvety purple outer cloak complements the dark dress beautifully. She also comes with pants and boots. The tattooed diamond pattern on her face and hands is neatly applied. We’re amazed at how nicely the factory was able to add these fine features to this figure. As far as accessories, Barriss Offee comes with a lightsaber where the hilt and blade detach for optimal play value. Admittedly, the hilt on her lightsaber looks too big, but it’s not completely out of scale. Overall, we’re quite please with everything. She also comes with a clear two-piece stand which really doesn’t work that well (in our opinion). Looking carefully at Barriss Offee makes us wish Hasbro was able to continue the line beyond where they stopped. Hasbro has “outsourced” the 12 Inch Figure license to Sideshow Collectibles going forward. This is a wonderful move, but there won’t be any more kid priced 12 Inch Figures going forward.
