The Empire prepares to crush the Rebellion with a second, more powerful Death Star. As the Rebel fleet mounts a massive attack on the dreaded space station, Luke Skywalker confronts his father, Darth Vader, in a climactic duel before the evil Emperor. In the last second, Vader makes a momentous choice: he destroys the Emperor and saves his son. The Empire is finally defeated, the evil Sith are destroyed, and Anakin Skywalker is redeemed. At long last, freedom is restored to the galaxy.

You probably never thought that you would have the opportunity to own an Ewok drum set, did you? Well thanks to the TARGET exclusive Accessory Set line of action figures you can. Four sets of multipacks filled with accessories based on key battles in the Star Wars saga have been put together to provide collectors with some much needed arsenal to complement the basic action figure line. Based on the requests of many collectors, Hasbro finally made something fans demanded, but sadly, the reception was not so warm. The Accessory Sets did not sell well and had to be put on clearance for pennies on the dollar until they were completely gone. A second wave of these were planned, but cancelled in light of the poor performance of the very first series. We still feel, however, that the Endor Victory Accessory Set (With Scout Trooper) is one of the strongest of the four, as it provides a key army builder (with one major flaw), but some neat accessories we would probably never receive anywhere else.

Let’s talk about the Scout Trooper first. Surprisingly, Hasbro installed the cod section backwards. This means his thermal detonator (and his butt for that matter) are on his anterior and not his posterior. It looks wonky (and frankly quite silly) and it puts a hamper on what could be a really good set in theory. The Scout Trooper is a repaint (and misassembled version) of 2000’s POTJ Scout Trooper figure. You’ll probably toss this figure aside anyway so you can inspect the neat accessories that accompany him. Included are the Scout Trooper action figure (along with his Imperial blaster pistol), a folded up trench coat, two Endor Rebel Soldier backpacks of various styles, a blaster rifle, an Endor Rebel Soldier helmet, four grenades, an AT-ST Driver helmet, a “drum set” (which has been made out of various helmets by Imperial troopers), and two drumsticks. Again, were it not for this set, we would probably never see the Ewok drum set. You have to thank this set for that at least.

The two Endor Rebel Soldier backpacks that have been included here are quite awkward. They have two hooks attached to them so that they go over any action figure’s shoulders. This convention is not only silly in appearance, but it’s also too bulky. It almost would have been better if Hasbro left these out entirely, or just added two of them with normal back plugs instead. There are still some cool other accessories here to make up for where it falls short however. Four extra grenades have been included, as well as extra removable helmets. Customizers may reap the most amount of benefits than anyone else. Imagine all of the unique Rebel and Imperial removable helmet characters they could make with these extra accessories? The options are nearly limitless. For $9.99, you get more than enough plastic to make this a worthwhile purchase. Be warned however. These didn’t sell well and Hasbro will likely never attempt anything else like this again, which is sad.
