CC-3636, nicknamed 'Wolffe' started his career with the Grand Army of the Republic serving under Jedi General Plo Koon during the Clone Wars. Proud and famed leader of the 104th Battalion called the Wolf Pack, his first mission aboard star destroyer Triumphant would shape the now grizzled veteran for the rest of his career. In an explosive battle with the Separatist warship Malevolence, the majority of the Wolf Pack perished in an onslaught of chaos and turbo laser fire. Wolffe, along with Koon, Boost and Sinker were the only surviving members

After the brutal loss of his comrades, Wolffe had the battalion's armor changed to honor the fallen squad. Dropping the rusty maroon colors for a pale blue, the team's wolf logo would also see a redesign. Despite this first setback, the new members of the Wolf Pack are as tight knit as they come, and their scarred stoic leader has no problem inspiring their loyalty.

Sideshow Collectibles has essentially completely mastered the characters designed with armor. Some of their greatest figures have been in their highly-respected 1:6 Scale Figures line. But they’ve now impressed us again with their Clone Commander Wolffe (104th Battalion) 1:6 Scale Figure. More on that soon. While most other licensees have almost but all given up on characters from The Clone Wars television show, Sideshow has remained fervent and loyal to the source as we receive almost annually a spectacular take on one of the characters from the successful property. With the skills in place to produce excellent collectibles based on a franchise of Star Wars that didn’t seem to get its full time in the limelight, this winning combination now brings us Clone Commander Wolffe (104th Battalion) and we’re sure that he will please those who purchase him. There are exceptions, but usually it will require two separate action figure releases for Hasbro to bring the phase I and phase II looks of a clone commander to their basic figure line, but with Sideshow’s 1:6 Scale Figures line, they can kill multiple birds with one stone and provide collectors with an astounding definitive version of them in one fell swoop. Not only do we get the phase I and phase II helmets of Clone Commander Wolffe (104th Battalion) with this release, but we also get two distinct human portraits as well. In all, four separate head attachments are at your disposal to create almost any appearance of Clone Commander Wolffe (104th Battalion) as you see fit. What else could you possibly want here?

This part of the story is old. You know by now that Clone Commander Wolffe (104th Battalion) utilizes the Armored body buck. Some new tooling has been executed and they’ve refined some parts of the buck over time, but they still manage to clean things up, like the tightness of joints and the amount of mobility they give the figure. Now they’ve used this wonderful template again and have repainted it to reflect this clone leader as based on his sole appearances in The Clone Wars television show. Clone Commander Wolffe (104th Battalion) is a triumph and it’s quickly become one of our favorites so far out of all their clones released to date. We have to point out that Sideshow Collectibles has stepped up once again when it comes to the paint operations. You must spend some time and absorb what they’ve done to make Wolffe look battle worn and edgy. Even a cursory review of Clone Commander Wolffe (104th Battalion) will prove to you how much detail goes into the hash marks, the carbon scoring and the color flashes paint operations. It’s quite impressive and it almost makes us not believe what our eyes are appreciating in fact. The figure itself isn’t anything out of the ordinary by default of its approach, but Wolffe stands out from the crowd and he may be the pinnacle of Sideshow’s achievement in this scale when all is said and one. There really isn’t any exceptionality with regards to Wolffe as we’ve mentioned, but it’s the sum of his parts that make him exceed our expectations.

His armor color flashes are innately awesome as his backstory of how they came to be. And he has been a long-awaited released in the 1:6 Scale Figures line. We’re thoroughly impressed with how well he turned out. The bluish-gray colors and the battle-damage and the brilliant human clone portraits, complete with cybernetic right eye couldn’t have been executed better. We should also point out that we are in awe with how much the portraits resemble the “animated” style of the character. While it’s still a realistic take on the character, the eyes in particular are haunting. Sideshow has mastered how to bring these faces to life. We couldn’t be more impressed. Because of this a neat affect happens. We have to say that Sideshow Collectibles has made a turning point with this approach and as a result Clone Commander Wolffe (104th Battalion) looks like the animated version of the character, much more than a realistic interpretation, even though this is a realistic interpretation of the character. There’s no guesswork at all of who this is to be and exactly where in the series these sculpts were inspired. We hope we have articulated that point clearly. There is definitely a much more animated appeal with the portraits here. Some other extra accessories have been included here too, like his magnetic jetpack and the DC-15 blaster. These all accent an already brilliant 1:6 Scale Figure. We are so happy we hung in so tightly with The Clone Wars television show and with all the licensees that make the merchandise, because it’s some of the best stuff money can buy.
