The Force runs strongly in Plo Koon, a descendent of a long line of Jedi. He served as one of the twelve Jedi Masters on the High Council. His imposing, muscular form and clear distinction between right and wrong reinforced his already formidable Jedi attributes. As a Dorin, Plo Koon's physiology was such that he wore protective goggles and facemask to conceal his face in oxygen-rich environments. When Order 66 was enacted, branding every Jedi in the galaxy as an enemy of the Republic, Plo Koon was on a scouting mission over Cato Neimoidia.

While most collectors wait for the main characters to get released in a given high-end collectibles line, there is a smaller subset of fans that prefer to get the “B”, “C” and/or “D” list characters first. The latter would probably apply to us, especially in the case of striking Jedi and other alien characters. Take Plo Koon for instance. He quickly developed a strong following after his appearance in Episode I. And the interest in him didn’t wane but grow even stronger with the releases of Episode II and Episode III. Gentle Giant Ltd. decided it was time to bring thins Jedi from Kel Dor into the Mini Bust line. We are thrilled over this decision. Not only is the Plo Koon Mini Bust gorgeous, but he representative of a very important group of Star Wars characters; the Jedi Masters. If you look back through Gentle Giant’s Mini Bust career, they really haven’t dug their heels deeply into these characters. We’re thrilled to see change is in place with the release of Plo Koon.

Call it a technicality, but Gentle Giant Ltd. has sourced this particular look of Plo Koon to the incorrect Star Wars film. His bio and the box labeling sources him to Star Wars Episode III: Revenge Of The Sith, but it was only in Star Wars Episode II: Attack Of The Clones that we saw him wield his signature blue-bladed lightsaber. The Phantom Menace and Revenge Of The Sith contains plenty of scenes showing Plo Koon, but he is not seen with any lit lightsaber in tow. It was specifically at the Battle of Geonosis where we saw him wearing his full outer Jedi robe and holding a fully lit lightsaber. Again, this may sound like it’s nitpicking because so many Mini Busts utilize artistic license, but we feel in Plo Koon’s case that it is much more appropriate to source him to Attack Of The Clones than Revenge Of The Sith. Thankfully his sourcing has no bearing on the quality of the Mini Bust. And let us tell you that there is premium quality employed here. This cannot be equivocated.

Plo Koon possesses a stunning sculpt and a brilliant paint job. In order to appreciate what Gentle Giant Ltd. has etched into this sculpt, you’ll need to inspect the piece in person and very up close. You already are aware of how complex the shape and texture Plo Koon’s head and breath mask are. What you may not know is that every last fine detail of these parts have been replicated beautifully. HIs pale beige skin tone is enhanced by the bronzy or coppery details of his face mask and finger armor. Plo is wearing his outer robes and if you turn him around you’ll see the elongated hood hanging down his back. As we’ve mentioned already, every last detail has been captured here. A removable blue lightsaber blade gets attached to his lightsaber hilt. He is holding the lightsaber up at the height of his head and it hangs down at a subtle angle across the front of him. Plo Koon is gorgeous. There is no other way to say it. If you’re into the Jedi characters, you shouldn’t need to ponder this one long at all.
