The Wookiees are intelligent, fiercely loyal and exceedingly strong. When their peaceful home planet of Kashyyyk is enveloped by the Clone Wars, these ferocious warriors fight the Separatist incursion.

Three times is apparently always the charm, right? Well, for the Wookiee Warrior sculpt, it can be said that the third attempt to utilize this sculpt (after the Wookiee Warrior [Brown] and Wookiee Warrior [Tan] versions) may have been the most beneficial for it. The kicker? The Wookiee Commando is most likely a Hasbro concept and not a character we saw in the film. We’re not claiming to have taken inventory on every single Wookiee in Revenge Of The Sith, but knowing that George Lucas utilized less than ten separate actors to play the army (he digitally looped them in the film), there were only so many variances he could make to them; color being one of them. We didn’t see any specific “Wookiee Commando” in Star Wars Episode III: Revenge Of The Sith, but perhaps we can pretend we did since there were enough Wookiees in the film to match the diversity in the Hasbro Revenge Of The Sith line. Besides, who doesn’t want a million Wookiees for their collection.

Undoubtedly, the best Wookiee action figure was the Sneak Preview Wookiee Warrior. But Hasbro saw it fit to utilize the 2005 ROTS III 43 sculpt for the Wookiee Commando instead. As we already have stated, they got it “right” with the third use here. Something magical happens to this sculpt when it’s painted in chocolate brown. Whether Hasbro has forgotten for a few moments that this isn’t the Planet Of The Apes toy line or not, getting such drastic color changes of the Wookiees is something we’re thoroughly enjoying. Besides the super dark chocolate fur and the significantly toned down orange harness/bandolier, the Wookiee Commando steps to the front of the line as one of the best Wookiee action figures. But we make that assessment visually and not practically. The same issue have been carried forward to this release that riddled the base sculpts. And you probably already know what they are.

Wookiee Commando has an action feature added to its leg, to recreate a Wookiee “bash” – whatever that is. It’s of course more annoying than utilitarian, but we suppose there are some kids out there who are going to get a kick out of it. But since you’ll be much more enthralled and distracted by its all-new paint job, we bet you’ll forget this travesty exists… for a while at least. The Wookiee Warrior is well accessorized and comes with a cannon that first was released with 2005’s ROTS Yoda (III 3) figure. It seems to work much better with the Wookiee Commando, even though it’s much too oversized for him as well. (Darn it Hasbro, why couldn’t you make this weapon realistically sized? They were clearly seen in the film!) The Wookiee Commando has another unique feature that we really enjoy, even though it isn’t accurate to any Wookiee you can see in the film. It has a vinyl-like soft-goods skirt in nearly the same color as its fur. We like it very much for some odd reason. This is the best Wookiee of the three that utilize this sculpt. You’ll just have to trust us on this one.
